Pokemon Art Turns Pikachu into a Bug-Type

A talented Pokemon fan draws a creative take on Pikachu as a Bug-type pocket monster, in addition to envisioning one of its moves.

Vespiquen is a Bug/Flying-Type Pokemon that was introduced in the 4th Generation of the series. It is primarily female and can only evolve from Combee of that gender, meaning that players will have to look a little harder in order to obtain it. Vespiquen also has a number of signature attacks that it can learn, all of which have the Bug-Typing and revolve around commanding a large number of Combees.

A Redditor named Lioness724 drew Vespiquen in the style of gijinka, giving the pocket monster a royal look. In the artwork, the Bug-Type Pokemon's human form features a grand dress with a bee design sewn into it and carries a scepter that looks like a honeycomb. The character is wearing a grand headdress that looks similar to the horns and gem that is seen on the critter, though Lioness724 did draw an actual crown next to her. According to the artist, they wanted to go for a more medieval look to match the headdress and admitted that they just wanted to have fun with the outfit. The work does a good job of making Vespiquen look regal as a human and helps her truly take on the look of a queen.

Lioness724 is one of many who have anthropomorphized the creatures seen in Game Freak's franchise. A good number of artists have created human forms for numerous Pokemon, creating cute pieces that can help fans imagine what their favorite pocket monsters would look like if they were to be transformed. It is a form of art that requires a lot of imagination as well as respect for the original concepts. Gamers will surely continue to draw Pokemon in this style, showing off the talents that the fan base has, all while drawing adorable pieces that lovers of the series can appreciate.
