Pokemon Unite updated to version 1.8.1.4, just a few days before Christmas. This update saw a round of buffs and nerfs to specific Pokemon moves, updates to the shop, battle pass, and various bug and text fixes. The update came just a few weeks after the Pokemon Unite Winter Holiday event went live.

In a previous update, Pokemon Unite covered its plans for the Winter Holiday event. Players will not have much longer to take part in the event, as the Shivre City Challenge Missions, Holiday Log-in Gifts, Aurora Ranked Matches, and Aurora Challenges will end on Christmas Day. However, the ongoing Illumination Challenge will continue until January 9, so players can keep earning challenge-exclusive rewards until the challenge concludes.

In Pokemon Unite version 1.8.1.4, some significant nerfs were made to a few Pokemon and their key moves. Azumarill's Water Pulse was nerfed via an increased cooldown and reduced damage, meaning the best builds for Azumarill will take a slight hit. An increased cooldown was also enforced for Dodrio's Agility, but Jump Kick's cooldown was lowered from 7.5 seconds to 6.5 seconds to compensate. Sableye's Confuse Ray had its cooldown increased to 10 seconds, and Duraladon's Revolving Ruin, Dragon Tail, and Dragon Pulse had significant nerfs as well.

However, there were some key buffs made as well. Buzzwole's Beast Boost will now increase when dealing damage to wild Pokemon, which will allow Buzzwole to be effective sooner during the course of a match, and Lunge was nerfed slightly as a result of the Beast Boost adjustment. Rapid Strike Urshifu's Liquidation move has also had its cooldown reduced from 12 seconds down to 10 seconds, and the shielding effect granted by Liquidation has been increased by 20%. Finally, Cinderace's Pyro Ball has been buffed by 8% to make the ability a more viable alternative in the best Cinderace builds currently recommended by Pokemon Unite players.

However, the new version update will not be the only thing Pokemon Unite players can look forward to. Starting on December 29, Dragapult will be added to Pokemon Unite, and the Full-Fury Team Clash will commence on December 26. Players can side with Cinderace's Team Blue or Buzzwole's Team Red to earn points and cosmetic rewards for participating in the clash. The event runs until February 5. Between the many events and rewards for players to collect, the holiday season is an exciting and promising time for Pokemon Unite and its players.

Pokemon Unite is available now for Android, iOS, and Switch.
