This article discusses events from Pokemon Master Journeys that could ruin some surprises. The Pokemon Journeys story introduces two new traveling companions, Goh and Chloe, as they accompany Ash across all nine Regions to accomplish their dreams. Ash has his sights set on winning the Pokemon World Coronation Series Tournament, whereas Goh wants to collect every species of Pokemon out there, including the allusive Mew. Chloe is a bit more undecided, only recently having joined the world of Pokemon training, and is focused on helping her Eevee discover her true evolution. So far, the gang has been quite successful, yet they seem to all have a new burst of motivation in the upcoming Pokemon Ultimate Journeys series.

The official trailer for the next Pokemon Journeys installment has been released, and there appear to be some potentially drastic changes up ahead. Ash is more determined than ever to become the Monarch of the Masters Eight, as he focuses his training specifically to defeat Leon. Gengar gets a significant amount of screen time as the group's adventures go down a dark and twisty path when Ash and Goh face off against a mysterious Ghost/Dark-type Pokemon. Chloe seems to be narrowing down her choices for the future, whereas Jessie and James appear to have some competition on the Team Rocket representation front.

Goh & The Ghosts

Pokemon Ultimate Journeys Goh Allister Pikachu and Grookey

At surface value, Goh seems to undergo the least amount of character development for Pokemon Ultimate Journeys, although he appears to be keeping on track with his personal Pokemon trainer goals. Goh has two priorities in life, namely catching one of each and every type of Pokemon in existence, with the ultimate prize being the infamous Mew. He has joined Project Mew in order to achieve the latter, and seems to face little resistance overall with regards to collecting Pokemon.

In the next chapter of his story, the self-appointed "Goh-King" teams up with Allister and a group of Ghost-type Pokemon as they face an unknown and potentially evil force. Maybe if the group is successful, Goh will finally be walking home with a Gengar of his own, along with plenty of other new additions no doubt.

Chloe Gets Creative

Pokemon Ultimate Journeys Season 25 Chloe and Eevee

Although it still seems unclear as to what path Chloe will forge for her future, viewers (and supposedly Chloe) witness a scene of an Eevee practicing her acrobatic skills with a group of performers in a circus-type setting. Chloe has shown an interest in becoming an entertainer in the past, as she wowed the crowd with her first official Pokemon Performance in "Eevee and Sylveon! A Meeting and a Reunion!", piquing her interest as a possible career path for.

The performer featured alongside Eevee bares an uncanny resemblance to Sara Lee from Pokemon XY, and it is unclear whether she is practicing her routine with her own Eevee, or teaching Chloe's Pokemon the tricks of the trade.

Team Rocket Gets Competitive

Pokemon Ultimate Journeys Season 25 Cassidy and Butch Team Rocket

Jessie and James are less than pleased to be reunited with their old colleagues (and nemeses), Cassidy and Butch in Pokemon Ultimate Journeys. The young dynamic pair was last seen in episode 95 where they announced that they had retired from Team Rocket, mainly due to boredom, and Butch and Cassidy parted ways. Butch had taken up baking of all things, and Cassidy went in her own direction as a cafe owner and woodcarver with her Raticate.

However, it appears that these two have reconsidered their partnership and their affiliation with Team Rocket, as they make a comeback by proudly representing the criminal organization. Either civilian life was not as thrilling as they originally thought, or Dr. Namba has got some persuasive tactics up his sleeves. Either way, it looks like Jessie and James have some competition up ahead.

Ash's Adventures

Pokemon Ultimate Journeys Season 25 Ash and Gengar

It seems that Ash is taking his Pokemon training more seriously than ever in Pokemon Ultimate Journeys, having finally confirmed his spot among the Masters Eight of the World Coronation Series. Obviously just joining the squad is not good enough for Ash because he will need to beat Leon and the rest of the Masters if he wishes to fulfill his dreams of becoming the ultimate Pokemon trainer, and working his way up the ladder will not be an easy feat. It seems that Ash wants Gengar to take the lead against Leon's Dragapult and Charizard, and he would be a worthy opponent indeed.

Gengar is a relatively new addition to Ash's team, being the second Pokemon he caught in the Pokemon Journeys Series. The Ghost/Poison-type made his first appearance in "Best Friend...Worst Nightmare!" as an abandoned Pokemon haunting the Cerise Laboratory, and it was Goh who made the first attempt to catch him. Team Rocket was next to try and claim ownership of Gengar, but luckily Ash came along to assist in fighting the criminals off. Gratitude and newfound respect lead Gengar to volunteer to become Ash's Pokemon and has since become an extremely valuable member of the team.

Ash & Gigantamax

Pokemon Ultimate Journeys Season 25 Ash Gigantamax Pokeball

When it becomes evident that Gengar is not able to reach his Gigantamax form by normal means, Ash goes out of his way in " The Winding Path to Greatness!" to find a solution, which presented itself in the form of Max Mushroom Soup. Gengar's Gigantamax power-up comes in handy against Marnie and Raihan, and (considering that Leon's Charizard has also obtained its Gigantamax status), possible against the Monarch as well.

Ash's Pikachu is the only other Gigantamax Pokemon on the team, but fans wonder if any others are due for an upgrade soon. In the last moments of the Pokemon Ultimate Journeys trailer, Ash throws out a Gigantamax ball, yet viewers are not granted a glimpse of who pops out, which begs to question: could a new Gigantamax form be revealed? The top candidates would be Lucario, Dragonite, or possibly (but unlikely) Sirfetch'd; or who knows, maybe fans' wishes will come true and Greninja will return to do the honors. However, Ash might just focus his attention on training his Dracovish, as the only Water-type in his lineup to give him the upper hand he so desperately needs to defeat Leon.

Pokemon Ultimate Journeys: The SeriesSeason 25 is due for release on 28 May 2022 on Corus / TELETOON. The 2022 Netflix release date is still to be confirmed.
