One Pokemon fan has tried to figure out what sort of team Batman would put together if he were thrust into the monster-battling franchise. With more than 1,000 monsters to choose from across nine generations of Pokemon games, The Caped Crusader would have a lot of options, but these picks seem right up his alley.

The history of Batman traces all the way back to 1939, with his original appearance in DC Comics' Detective Comics #27. That's quite a bit older than the Pokemon franchise, which hit Japan in 1996 and didn't make its way west until 1998. Still, building teams for fictional characters is a popular activity among the Pokemon fan base, and these monsters all represent the classic superhero in different ways.

Posting the team in a hand-drawn image to Reddit, user budayarif's list includes only four bat-like Pokemon — Golbat, Gliscor, Lunana, and a shiny Noibat. A fifth member of the team can be found in Umbreon, chosen because the creator feels every team needs a themed evolution of Eevee, and the dark type is clearly the most well-suited. Lastly, Indigo Disk Pokemon Urshifu, a Fighting type with a hand-to-hand style similar to Batman's, represents The Dark Knight's martial arts background and has been humorously drawn with exaggerated head features that make it look as though it's wearing one of Batman's cowls.

Players Have Their Own Ideas About Batman's Pokemon Team

The list seems to be a pretty big hit with fans, right down to the details. For example, several people have praised the list maker for including Golbat and not its fully evolved form of Crobat, since Crobat traditionally evolves with a high friendship level, and Batman has a notoriously guarded personality. One player noted that the Swoobat evolutionary line, which also levels up with high friendship, was left off the list entirely, to which the creator noted that Batman would likely have one, but it would be kept in his PC.

In addition, some have noted that Batman has mentored a small army of human sidekicks in the past and suggested other Pokemon that matched the likes of those colorful characters. Particular attention was paid to the various boys who have filled the role of Robin across the decades, with suggestions of Corviknight as a stand-in for Nightwing, Yveltal or Druddigon for Red Hood, and Fletchling for classic Robin. Several others seem to think Batman would find a kindred soul in Cubone, seeing as both the brooding superhero and the Pokemon are perpetually in mourning over the loss of their parents.
