The first Pokemon Trading Card Game set to feature Kadabra in decades now has a release date. Fans won't have to wait much longer to add the Gen 1 Pokemon to their Pokemon TCG collections. While Porygon has had a troubled past due to complications around an early Pokemon anime episode that triggered seizures in children, Kadabra vanished from the Pokemon Trading Card Game twenty years ago for different reasons. A lawsuit from a prominent magician, Uri Geller, claimed that the Pokemon was using his likeness without permission. Whether the claim has any truth to it is arguable, but the similarity between the magician's name and Kadabra's Japanese name, Yungerer, as well as Geller's iconic spoon bending magic seemingly being mimicked by Kadabra was enough to draw the magician's ire. However, after years of requests from fans of the Pokemon series who wanted Kadabra back, Geller recently gave permission for the Pokemon Company to return to using the Pokemon design without any risk of further legal action.RELATED: Kadabra Expected to Return to Pokemon Trading Card GameFollowing its reveal a few months ago, the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet 151 TCG collection has now received a release date of September 22. According to the information, the collection will consist of the original 151 Pokemon, including the starters from the original Pokemon Red and Blue games. Over 160 cards make up the set, with over ten trainer cards, and 12 new Pokemon ex cards. Players will be able to grab the first Kadabra card to be officially released in 20 years through this collection.

The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet 151 TCG collection will be sold in a variety of ways, allowing players to try their luck with a simple booster pack or secure special cards and bonuses like playmats and coins. The game will launch its Elite Trainer Box on September 22, but certain collections like the Ultra Premium Collection won't arrive until October 6.

It remains to be seen if these Pokemon card sets generate the same level of excitement as prior launches, but with Kadabra finally back, there's a strong likelihood that these sets will sell out quickly. Fans may want to consider that possibility, as many Pokemon cards and sets have vanished from store shelves as soon as they arrive and end up resold at much higher prices online. Pokemon cards have seen such extreme popularity that they completely vanished from stores in Japan at one point, and thefts of Pokemon cards have continued to be a problem in the west and Japan alike. Of course, Kadabra is also likely to continue appearing in future Pokemon Trading Card Game releases, so fans shouldn't fret too much if they miss out on this particular launch.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet 151 TCG launches on September 22.
