The new Pokemon TCG set exclusively features cards of the original 151 Kanto Pokemon from Generation 1. The expansion brings all of the Pokemon Red and Blue classics into the current Pokemon TCG Scarlet and Violet meta. The people behind Pokemon TCG have been laying it on thick recently when it comes to cards featuring Pokemon from the first generation. It wasn't long ago that players got the Pokemon Trading Card Game Classic announcement that will give players a chance to add reprints of cards from the iconic base set to their collection. That set isn't even out yet with a release date set for late 2023, and now a new set is coming even sooner that will feature all the Pokemon from the first generation.RELATED:Rare Pichu Card Drawn by Second-Grader Breaks Sale RecordThe official Pokemon TCG social media pages have been sharing information about this upcoming set, which will include 160 cards including all the original 151 Pokemon from the Kanto region, from Bulbasaur to Mew. This is the set that made big news upon its original announcement in Japan for containing the first Kadabra Pokemon TCG card printed since 2002. That alone could make this set a must-buy for collectors interested in having a complete Abra evolutionary line for the first time in years.

On top of the exciting Kadabra card, the set will also include 10 new EX cards, including ones for Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. The Mew EX card may wind up being the rarest one in the set, with the promotional material even crediting it as "elusive." The Pokemon TCG scene has been having trouble with rarity lately as stores in Japan completely sell out of the cards and have to resort to measures like banning adults from buying every new set just to allow younger kids to be able to participate in the hobby.

The set will be coming to the Pokemon TCG Live app on the same day that the physical packs release in stores, but the new app for digital trading and competing is continuing to receive pushback from the community. Currently, the successor to the old Pokemon TCG app only has an average of 2.3 stars out of all of its reviews on the Google Play Store. Many of the various negative reviews claim that the game just does not work, citing numerous bugs and other issues. Hopefully, the app will be in a better state by September to better host the players who wish to play with the cards from the 151 set.

Pokemon TCG: Scarlet and Violet - 151 set is coming to stores and the app on September 22nd.
