We probably still have to wait a while for Pokemon Sword and Shield's own roster of new Pokemon to be added to Pokemon GO, but fans of the Galar region will still be excited to know that Galarian forms of certain Pokemon will be added to the mobile game shortly.

Sword and Shield players still have to wait until June for the game's first DLC expansion, the Isle of Armor, for that game to receive new Pokemon. In the meantime, the game's Max Raid Battles have been recently updated, so certain Pokemon will now be appearing more frequently in their giant Dynamax forms until May 11th.

Specifically, these Pokemon are Rock/Dark type Tyranitar, Fairy/Flying type Togekiss, Ground/Steel type Excadrill, Grass/Fairy type Whimsicott, and Dragon/Ghost type Dragapult. Tyranitar's inclusion should be particularly exciting as it can usually only be found in Pokemon Shield, so Sword players now have an opportunity to add one to their collection without needing to trade.

In addition, both versions of the game will be receiving unique encounters - two different forms of the Electric/Ghost type Rotom. Sword players will be able to find the Wash form (which is Electric/Water) whereas Shield players can encounter the Heat form (which is Electric/Fire).

As a reminder, these Rotom forms aren't permanent and can be changed into other forms (including the original Rotom), provided the player has the Rotom Catalogue item, which can be acquired from a man that can be found in the city of Wyndon.

Defeat him and his team of different Rotom forms and he'll hand over the item, which can change Rotom's form at any time outside of battle.

Capturing Dynamax Pokemon like these can be especially challenging, and it can be infuriating if one escapes, meaning time must be spent checking all the Raid spots in the hopes of finding it again. Players may be sorely tempted to use their Master Ball, but we recommend maybe saving it for these other tricky-to-catch Pokemon.

In related news, Netflix has announced that it has an exclusive deal to stream the newest anime series, Pokemon Journeys, that sees Ash and new friend Goh travel the world, visiting various regions, including Galar, with several of its Pokemon and characters, like champion Leon, already making appearances.
