There are many older Pokemon that have returned in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield via the newly released Crown Tundra DLC expansion. Among these are all of the legendary Pokemon that have made appearances throughout previous Pokemon titles.

One of the legendary Pokemon that's making a proper game appearance is Keldeo, a dual water and fighting-type Pokemon. However, players won't be able to find it right away in Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield, even with the Crown Tundra DLC installed.

The first step to finding and catching Keldeo is to go through the story of the Crown Tundra DLC until the player meets up with Sonia. From there, Sonia will inform the player about the Swords of Justice Pokemon roaming the Crown Tundra. At this point, Players will need to catch Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion in order to move forward.

Pokemon Keldeo

Once Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion are all caught, players will need to have all three Pokemon in their parties. Then, players will need to present these Pokemon to Sonia. After talking to her, the next step will be to travel down to Ballimere Lake in the Crown Tundra's Wild Area.

After arriving at the lake, players will need to travel to the small island located within the lake. It will have an empty cooking pot as well as footprints surrounding it. Players will then need to set up camp at this location and make Pokemon's curry, causing Keldeo to appear. Players must still have all three Swords of Justice Pokemon in order to get Keldeo to appear. Additionally, it will only appear once, so players are recommended to save beforehand.

This encounter with Keldeo will have the Pokemon at level 65 with the ability Justified. This will cause Keldeo's attack to be boosted after being hit with a dark-type move. Additionally, it will know the moves Secret Sword, Sacred Sword, Swords Dance, and Hydro Pump.

Players should note that only the Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion found in the Crown Tundra can be used to find Keldeo. Using versions transferred from Pokemon Home will not work for players trying to catch Keldeo at an earlier time in-game.

Because the Keldeo caught in the Crown Tundra DLC is found knowing the move Secret Sword, it will be in its Resolute form. If players desire for Keldeo to be in its ordinary form instead, players will just need to overwrite the move with another or remove the move with another method.

Pokemon Sword and Shield, and The Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra DLC Expansion Pass, are available now on Switch.
