Every Legendary Pokemon Revealed Since the Release of Sword and Shield

Legendaries have always had a special place in the hearts of Pokemon fans, as they are ultra-rare, difficult to catch, and usually very strong. In the case of Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, the Legendaries are impressive, and the titles of the games are literally named after too monstrous Legendary Pokemon. Thanks to Nintendo continually supporting the Pokemon Sword and Shield through DLC, the game has an ever-expanding list of Legendaries.

Pokemon Sword and Shield reviewed very well and continues to be a hot-seller for Nintendo on the Switch. One of the complaints, however, was the list of Pokemon available in the game. But once Nintendo made it clear that it would be using DLC and updates moving forward to continue to support Sword and Shield, it became obvious that many Pokemon would be added to the library, and that would include a ton of Legendaries.

Legendaries Available From the Launch of Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Sheild

Pokemon Sword and Shield launched on November 15, 2019, and with it, the game only came with three Legendaries. This is less than the standard amount in most Pokemon games.

Zacian is a heavy sword-wielding wolf. There are many interesting hidden details about Zacian,and its counterpart, including the idea that the sword may be connected to King Arthur. The Fairy and Steel type's blade it uses can cut through anything, and as it weapon would suggest, Zacian can only be caught in Pokemon Sword.

Zamazenta is a shield-wielding wolf that can overwhelm enemies with its defensive abilities. Both Zacian and Zamzenta can be difficult to catch as Legendaries. Zamazenta is Fighting and Steel type. Zamazenta can only be caught in Pokemon Shield.

Eternatus is said to be responsible for "The Darkest Day" and the chaos that ensued. It is a Poison and Dragon type Legendary Pokemon that looks just as eerie as its backstory.

New Legendaries in Pokemon Sword and Sheild

Zarude is a Dark and Grass type mythical Pokemon that resembles a monkey and cannot be captured through standard gameplay. Players in Japan were able to snag it recently only by pre-ordering tickets to a movie. Recently a brand new exclusive Jungle Healing move was unveiled for Zarude. But again, most players are unable to test anything out at this time as the Mythical Legendary is not a simple find and capture.

Kubfu can evolve into either Urshifu or Urshifu. The Legendary was announced during a Nintendo Direct in early January of this year which revealed the Isle of Armor expansion pack. The DLC is set for June of 2020 and will include new areas, new Pokemon, and a new story.

Kubfu is a Fighting type Legendary Pokemon. Players will be able to make choices during the adventure, which could revolutionize the way players evolve Pokemon moving forward, to either evolve Kubfu into two different types of Urshifu. There's the Rapid Strike Fighting and Water type Urshifu or Single Strike Fighting and Dark type.

Calyrex is the Legendary Pokemon that will be made available with the next expansion pack after The Isle of Armor. The Crown Tundra was revealed during the Nintendo Direct back in January as well. Little is known about Calyrex, other than it being a Psychic and Grass type. Players will learn more when Crown Tundra is released in the Fall of 2020, and most likely the months leading up to it.

Legendaries Returning from Previous Pokemon Titles

Nintendo and Game Freak have revealed a total of six (not including Kubfu's evolutions) new Legendary Pokemon so far for Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. More may be on the way eventually, but there are also plenty of Legendaries returning from previous Pokemon Games, in a myriad of ways, including adding Legendary birds from the past.

One of the additions with Pokemon Sword and Sheild was the idea of Galarian versions of older Pokemon. Weezing, Ponyta, and others received region-based version of themselves for the game to the point that fans were jumping to their computers to find out how to evolve Galarian Farfetched into Sirfetched. To continue with this new tradition, it seems as if some Legendary Pokemon will be getting the Galarian treatment.

Galarian Articuno is a variation of the original Articuno from Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue, the first games in the series. Articuno is Ice and Flying type, but time will tell if it retains that for its Galarian version. Galarian Articuno has a purple hue to it and almost seems to be wearing a mask. One image also has beams shooting directly out of its eyes.

Galarian Zapdos is a variation of the original Zapdos from Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue, the first games in the series. Zapdos is Electric and Flying type and is subject to change with a Galarian version. Galarian Zapdos is seen running on the ground quickly in some of the concept art, and now has orange and black feathers, instead of yellow.

Galarian Moltres is a variation of the original Moltres from Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue, the first games in the series. Moltres is Fire and Flying type but with a Galarian version, that could change. Galarian Moltres now has fuchsia flames under its wings. Each of the original Legendary birds will arrive with The Crown Tundra expansion.

Two new Regi Pokemon also seem to be on the way. Regirock, Registeel, Regice, and Regigigas, are each a part of the Pokemon series already. The Crown Tundra expansion pack looks to add two more. One Regi Pokemon may be a Dragon type, and the other could be Electric.

Last, but certainly not least, tons of Legendary Pokemon will be returning to The Crown Tundra in their regular forms, meaning they won't be getting the Galarian treatment, but they will be made available to fight and capture. All of these additions in both The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra are steps in the right direction. Players have to wait a bit, but should be happy with the Legendaries that are coming soon.
