As promised, The Pokemon Company hosted a new Pokemon Sword and Shield presentation this morning, this time focused on the games' Expansion Pass, particularly the upcoming Crown Tundra DLC. Fans were treated to a slew of new information about what the Pokemon Sword and Shield Crown Tundra DLC will entail, including the hotly-anticipated expansion's release date.

It's been confirmed that the Pokemon Sword and Shield Crown Tundra DLC will launch on Thursday, October 22. The new DLC will let players explore a new snowy region, which will have its own storyline to complete and will give players the opportunity to catch every legendary Pokemon from the past. This is on top of some new mythical Pokemon to catch, as well as Galarian forms of the legendary birds: Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos.

The ability to catch all of the legendary Pokemon from past Pokemon games is the main draw of Sword and Shield's Crown Tundra DLC, but there are more reasons to get excited as well. The Pokemon Sword and Shield Crown Tundra DLC will also be adding Dynamax Adventures, which is a co-op endgame activity that lets players explore caves filled with Dynamax Pokemon.

Another endgame activity coming as part of the Pokemon Sword and Shield Crown Tundra DLC is the Galarian Star Tournament. More specific details as to what this will entail exactly aren't available at this time, but it appears to be a tournament comprised of the top trainers in the Galar region, including the gym leaders that players previously defeated in the base game.

Besides revealing new content for the upcoming Pokemon Sword and Shield Crown Tundra DLC, The Pokemon Company also confirmed some new connectivity between Pokemon GO and Pokemon Home, which will allow players to unlock content in Sword and Shield. Once Pokemon GO connectivity with Pokemon Home is active, players will be able to unlock Meltan and Melmetal in Sword and Shield. Not only that, but Melmetal will have a special Gigantamax form as well.

And finally, Pokemon Sword and Shield is going to be celebrating the Crown Tundra release with special codes that players can redeem for mystery gifts. These new Pokemon Sword and Shield mystery gifts include variations of Pikachu wearing Ash's hats from throughout the anime series. There will be eight of these special Pikachu in total, and fans can get the first one right now by inputting the following mystery gift code: P1KACHUGET.

Pokemon Sword and Shield is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
