With Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl just a month away, the new open-world Pokemon Legends: Arceus game in January, as well as a brand-new film now available on Netflix, Pokemon fans have an exciting next couple of months to look forward to. On top of that, owners of Pokemon Sword and Shield are now receiving a new gift.

Pokemon distribution events have become a sort of stable for the franchise, which each title giving away rare Pokemon that are either very difficult to acquire, or impossible to acquire. Now a new event is being held alongside the newly released Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle where the Pokemon Dada Zarude and Shiny Celebi will be distributed to owners of Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Both Dada Zarude and Shiny Celebi will be distributed to owners of Pokemon Sword and Shield who have also signed up for the Pokemon Trainer Club newsletter before September 25th. Those who signed up will receive an email where they’ll acquire a code that they can enter in either Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield via the mystery gift option. After doing so, they’ll acquire Dada Zarude whose debut is seen in the new Pokemon film and cannot be acquired any other way. Of course, Celebi has been around since Pokemon Gold and Silver and has been part of almost every Generation’s distribution events but is now Shiny.

Dada Zarude will be gifted at level 70 while Shiny Celebi will be level 60. Dada Zarude will also be slightly different from other Zarudes as it will be wearing a pink cape, just like Dada Zarude in the film. Zarude and Celebi will have the corresponding characteristics:

Zarude

  • Ability: Leaf Guard
  • Held Item: Choice Scarf
  • Moves: Jungle Healing, Hammer Arm, Power Whip, Energy Ball

Celebi

  • Ability: Natural Cure
  • Held Item: Lucky Egg
  • Moves: Magical Leaf, Future Sight, Life Dew, Heal Bell

Although long-term fans of the franchise mostly likely have Celebi, those that have only started their adventure in Pokemon Sword and Shield will be happy with this shiny addition. Of course, Zarude has had an event already in Pokemon Sword and Shield last year, but this will mark the first appearance of Dada Zarude where it is wearing a pink cape.

Unfortunately, those that have not signed up for the Pokemon Trainer Club newsletter in time will have missed their chance to acquire both these mythical Pokémon. They can of course still be acquired through trading in Pokemon Sword and Shield but due to limited distribution, this will be harder to acquire. Those that missed their chance shouldn’t fret however as these Pokemon distribution events have been and will continue to be held for years.
