A Pokemon fan has recently recreated all 27 starters as different versions of Psyduck. Psyduck is available in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and it has remained one of the most recognizable Pokemon ever since its debut in the first generation of the franchise.
Psyduck isn't the strongest Pokemon ever, but it’s fair to say that it’s quite loved by the fanbase. Psyduck has become quite popular and is often featured in Pokemon fan art. Now one fan decided to take this approach to the next level.
The talented Pokemon fan DumbShoes recently shared their latest creation on Reddit: 27 hilarious versions of Psyduck, each one inspired by a single starter, which includes all generations, from Red and Blue to Scarlet and Violet. While all the Pokemon have the same pose, they look pretty different from each other, with distinct colors and several details that resemble their original designs. Take the first generation starters for example. Bulbasaur Psyduck retains the bulb in its back, while the Charmander Psyduck has the iconic fire tail. Squirtle Psyduck has the shell and is even wearing sunglasses like in the anime, which is a nice detail.
The post has managed to receive over 3,600 upvotes in less than seven hours. One of the main highlights among the commenters was the Rowlet Psyduck, which looks absolutely adorable with a small green bowtie. The original Rowlet, the Plant/Flying-type starter of Pokemon Sun and Moon, is a cute, round owl, and turning it into a duck with a huge head was perhaps one of the best moves made by DumbShoes.
This quirky experiment is far from the only amazing piece of Psyduck fan art created recently. A few months ago, an artist called the_elastic_band shared a regional variant of Psyduck on social media. This time, the fan created a Psychic version of Psyduck and its evolutions Golduck and Ascenduck, which is a new form originally devised for this variant. The new variants are very similar to classic Psychic Pokemon from Gen 1 like Alakazam and Drowzee, and could easily be mistaken for official designs. Hopefully, Pokemon fans will continue to use their creativity in amazing ways and come up with more creative designs featuring Psyduck or other lovable creatures.
