Pokemon GO Fans Should Mark May 7 On Their Calendars

Dedicated fans of Niantic's augmented reality mobile game Pokemon GO should be sure to keep an eye on May 7.

The official Pokemon Center website is now offering the Squishmallow Marill and Squishmallow Dragonite for pre-order. The Squishmallows both cost $29.99, and are the 12 inch variants of the design. As these come from the Pokemon Center, they have a unique touch that won't be present when the toys eventually come to big box retailers like Walmart. Both Pokemon Squishmallow plushes have a Poke Ball embroidery patch on the back, indicating that they're the exclusive Pokemon Center versions of the plush toys. The Marill Squishmallow has an estimated release of June 2024, but Dragonite has no date listed. Fans can likely expect the two to release around the same time, however.

The website notes that neither of these plush toys will be restocked once they're sold out, so fans shouldn't wait too long to get their orders in. However, in the event that these versions sell out, the major retailer version will still be releasing after the fact. Retailer versions are usually different in their size, and they lack the Poke Ball embroidery patch. However, other than that, fans can still expect the same quality and adorable squishy designs regardless of where they make their purchase.

Pokemon fans seem to love plush versions of their favorite Pokemon. Whether they're choosing one that's inherently cute, like Pikachu, or a terrifying giant pocket monster, there's a plush toy for nearly every Pokemon around. Even if official plushes of a Pokemon gamer's particular favorite aren't available, fan-made Pokemon plushes are also commonly made and help to fill in the gaps. With over a thousand Pokemon in existence, collecting every single one may be more difficult than catching them all in the games, but it's ultimately up to the fans to decide how much of their space they want to dedicate to Pokemon.
