Pokemon Sleep continues to gain new players every single day, and currently, it has over a million downloads. As the player base has continued to grow, the issues have become easier to spot. Niantic hasn't been the quickest to respond to the fanbase's queries, and so far, it has only released minor fixes.

However, that is about to change. On August 14, 2023, Niantic posted an in-game update about the future of Pokemon Sleep. In the announcement, the developers confirmed that they are working to improve the game. This is good news for players who want to continue investing their time in Pokemon Sleep.

Future Features

Pokemon sleep future features

Niantic is working on several things, and the company has outlined its plans in this Pokemon Sleep announcement. These are all the confirmed features:

  • Adding new Pokemon
  • Adding more alarm sounds and relaxing sounds
  • Implementing night mode for the loading screen
  • Responding to an issue that makes it difficult to meet one's bedtime
  • Responding to an issue that makes it difficult to collect berries among other things located near the edge of the screen
  • Putting on the Good Sleep Day event, starting Wednesday, August 30

As these features are being worked on, it means that they will be implemented in the game soon. The statement also confirmed the date for the first Good Sleep Day, which is supposed to help players get better rewards and catch better Pokemon. The addition of new Pokemon is always welcome. It will be interesting to see whether they will be added to the four existing islands or if there will be even more locations in the update.

Future Adjustments

Niantic is not stopping at just new features either as the company is also looking into other issues that will be resolved in future updates. The same announcement highlighted these issues:

  • Pokemon recovering Energy while inside the Pokemon Box
  • An issue that causes the app to run slowly or freeze on some devices
  • Further optimization of battery usage during sleep tracking

The battery optimization will be a solid improvement, and it will allow players to use their devices for a longer period of time without having to plug them in. The energy recovery fix will be a potential game changer. Presently, only the five Helper Pokemon regain energy whenever players sleep. The Pokemon in the box remain at the same energy level, which is rather annoying, especially for players who want to use multiple teams.

One more thing that Niantic should take care of is reducing the cost of the biscuits or providing an easier way to get them. At the moment, Pokemon Sleep players have to use biscuits sparingly since there is a limit on how many can be bought from the Shop.
