Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fans were treated with new previews today and an oddly timed leak of Wiglett's possible evolution. These previews reveal how Pokemon Scarlet and Violet changes trainer battles, as well as other details such as potential performance issues. Outside that, it seems there wasn't much more to these than perhaps fans expected.

The appearance of Wiglett's evolution online is surprising. As many know, Wiglett is a Water-type Pokemon related to Diglett, which was revealed a few weeks back. Its evolution hasn't been revealed, but a new image is making the rounds online. Now, it's possible that this image comes from an actual leak or from someone who had hands on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, but its spread online has been mostly by fans. In other words, there is no one claiming to have made the leak as of this writing and the original post, wherever it was, has been lost. Therefore, fans should take this with a grain of salt, as it could have been easily faked by someone and saved for a moment like this.

Wiglett's supposed evolution, as seen below, continues the combination of three Pokemon as seen with Dugtrio and Alolan Dugtrio, but the designs are a little basic. Fans are currently calling it Wugtrio, as that seems to be the logical name for it, but this has not been confirmed. There appears to be fins on two of the worms in differing locations, but each features a series of purple rings coating its body.

It's uncertain when or if Game Freak or the Pokemon Company will react to this leak. In fact, despite there being plenty of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet leaks out there, the companies involved seem to be content to just let them continue on. This is perhaps the best tactic, as aside from a few reliable sources, it can be hard for fans to differentiate real leaks from fake ones. This image does seem to be a bit dramatic in covering certain elements, but that doesn't really support or dismiss its veracity.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have had limited creature reveals since its initial announcement, and it's hard to say if the companies will pick up on this heading into its launch. Perhaps fans will see a huge blowout in the coming weeks, or perhaps they will be more mysterious than ever going into the games. Either way, fans will no doubt flock to the games when they release next much.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet release on November 18 for Nintendo Switch.
