Shiny hunting can be a bit easier as one Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player has revealed a helpful trick for finding shiny Pokemon. The hunt for Pokemon can be grueling, as there is so much to look for when catching a Pokemon, like its stats, nature, and the moves they have, that it can already be quite a mess. Looking for a shiny Pokemon among all that can be even harder to find, but one trick from a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player has shown a good way to determine which one is shiny.

In the Pokemon games, there are the regular Pokemon, the one that is most seen out in the overworld, and the shiny Pokemon, which can be designated by the difference in color between them and their regular counterpart. While these are rare to find, with a 1 in 4096 chance, people usually know when it's a shiny Pokemon. In a good amount of the Pokemon, this difference can be easy to spot, sometimes being drastically different in color. However, other Pokemon like Paldean Tauros from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have a disappointingly minuscule difference.

Thanks to a helpful trick by one Pokemon player, this will be at least a little easier to do. Posting to r/PokemonScarletandViolet, a user named tjkun uploaded a video of a little trick they learned while shiny hunting in Paldea. In the video, the player is up by the North Province and starts to run around, catching the attention of the Fairy-type Pokemon Floette. Since they don't attack unless directly touched, they don't get into a fight with them, and instead, the player lets the group surround them. The player then goes into first person and looks at all the lined-up Floette, able to pick out the shiny version by seeing their different colors.

Many in the comments found this technique to be rather brilliant, and some even gave other tips, like spinning in place, causing a spin animation that seemingly attracts the Pokemon. In addition, another user suggested sending out the player's Pokemon to hunt the ones that aren't shiny, but the poster found the technique risky. Since shiny-hunting can be tough, involving hours of searching or hundreds of eggs being hatched for one shiny Scorbunny, many players don't like taking chances.

With how popular shiny hunting has gotten, players will take whatever tips can help them procure the rare finds, and now that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have expansions coming out later this year, there will only be more to find. Perhaps this technique might be able to help with hunting the shiny versions of other non-hostile Pokemon, making the grind of shiny hunting just that tiny bit easier.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
