Warning: Major Pokemon Scarlet and Violet spoilers ahead

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's latest trailer was a great chance for The Pokemon Company to reveal some new critters, and in the end, the choice was to tease Paradox Pokemon through two different forms of Donphan. Paradox Pokemon were leaked in the past few months, and while initially they were thought to simply be ancient and future versions of existing Pokemon, leakers eventually revealed they were paradoxes through and through, and they had a lot to do with the story of Gen 9 games. From there, it became clear that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Paradox Pokemon were not just a different spin on the regional forms gimmick, and leakers suggested that they were caused by imagination and closely tied to a specific story and character.

This was later theorized to be Arven, who shares some physical characteristics of both Professor Sada and Turo, and is thought to be their son. However, leakers suggested that the relationship between the Professors would be similar to that of the protagonists in The Lake House, a movie with time-travel elements, implying that Arven's own existence might be a paradox. However, it's not Arven the one who's responsible for Paradox Pokemon to appear in Paldea, at least not directly, and instead, it seems this could involve Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's third Legendary, which was allegedly cut from the base game and saved for DLC.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Third Legendary Might be Connected to Arven

Based on the leaks, Paradox Pokemon are actually caused as a phenomenon by imagination, which out of context might not make a lot of sense. However, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's third Legendary also seems to be the origin of Paradox Pokemon, which means that maybe its powers allow a select few people to manifest things they imagine, which in the case of Gen 9 might come from the Scarlet and Violet books that Arven holds.

In them are drawings of the Paradox Pokemon, as shown in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trailer that revealed Donphan's new forms, with them being Great Tusk and Iron Treads, each exclusive to its version of the game. As such, because Arven uses the book to take players on his quest to find the Herba Mystica, it's possible that his seeing the sketches of the Pokemon actually manifests existing versions of them in Paldea with the help of the third Legendary.

Why Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Third Legendary Could be the Paradox Pokemon's Leader

This undisclosed Pokemon's appearance and Pokedex entry leaked online today, and it seems it's a sort of egg or disc with hexagonal, shining plates that look like a reptilian's scales. With it being an egg-like object with seemingly no face, it's hard to imagine it as a Pokemon, but it could be a paradox in and of itself by being alive and dead at the same time. Because the third Legendary is an egg, and it is the one creature controlling other Paradox Pokemon, it could actually be a Ghost-type haunting the egg from which it never hatched, being alive thanks to the ghost energy and dead due to its physical form never being born, to being with.

Because Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Koraidon and Miraidon are both Dragon-types according to the leaks, it's possible that the third Legendary's secondary type will also be Dragon. It could very well be the egg from which Koraidon and Miraidon were supposed to hatch, hence why they are Paradox Pokemon themselves. As such, because there is still power left in it, the third Legendary draws energy from those who need something to cling on to, and manifests that in the world - and in Arven's case, Paradox Pokemon.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet release on November 18 for Nintendo Switch.
