Three new Tera Raid battles have been announced for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and will see players going up against three particularly iconic Gen 1 critters as the raid battle events take place throughout next month. The series of Tera Raid battles soon to arrive in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet was announced during this year's Pokemon Presents event, and come as a way of celebrating 28 years of the franchise's history.

Introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Tera Raid battles allow players to challenge significantly strong wild Pokemon empowered by the Terastal phenomenon. An evolution of the Max Raid battle concept initially introduced in the Gen 8 games, Tera Raid battles present completely optional challenges, and often reward powerful Pokemon and tons of loot. Special, limited-time Tera Raid battles distributed via the internet have also been made available in the past, which offered exclusive Pokemon complete with unique move sets, stats, and more.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: 5 Best Tips For Tera Raids

If players want to beat the Tera Raids in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, here are some helpful tips to help them on their way.

New limited-time Tera Raid events have recently been announced to run throughout March, and will allow fans the chance to catch a Mighty Venusaur, Mighty Blastoise, and Mighty Charizard. Though this is the first time mighty variants of Venusaur and Blastoise have become available, fans who have taken part in previous Tera Raid events in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will no doubt be familiar with the Mighty Charizard, which will be making its return between March 13th and March 17th. These event Pokemon will become available sequentially, with Venusaur being available first between February 28th and March 5th and Blastoise taking the stage between March 6th and March 12th, followed by Charizard.

When To Catch The Upcoming Tera Raid Pokemon

  • Mighty Venusaur will be available to catch in Tera Raid battles between 28th February at 00:00 UTC, and March 5th until 23:59 UTC.
  • Mighty Blastoise will be available to catch in Tera Raid battles between March 6th at 00:00 UTC, and March 12th until 23:59 UTC.
  • Mighty Charizard will be available to catch in Tera Raid battles between March 13th at 00:00 UTC, and March 17th until 23:59 UTC.

It goes without saying that these "mighty" variants of the classic Gen 1 starter Pokemon boast greater stats than their standard counterparts, though they're also complete with their own different Tera Types as well. Fans should also be aware that they will not be able to catch the Mighty Charizard during this event if they have caught the original Mighty Charizard in their game, though players can still participate in the battle to earn other rewards. As was the case with prior Tera Raid events, players can only catch one of each of these mighty Pokemon per save game.

The reveal of these upcoming Tera Raid battles in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet came as one of the various announcements made at this year's Pokemon Presents event, which also introduced new updates and content additions to various mobile games in celebration of Pokemon Day, a whole new way of experiencing the Pokemon Trading Card Game, and more. While the announcements shown at the event totally evaded the vast majority of ideas produced by recent community speculation, the reveal of a whole new Pokemon Legends title set in the Kalos region has given fans a massive upcoming project to look forward to.
