Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players will soon be able to take on Mewtwo the Unrivaled in a new seven-star Tera raid battle. The raid battle was confirmed during the August 8 Pokemon Presents broadcast and went into detail as to when Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be able to challenge the Legendary Pokemon from Kanto.
Known as the Genetic Pokemon, Mewtwo is a pure Psychic-type that debuted in Pokemon Red and Blue. As a Legendary Pokemon, Mewtwo is capable of using its high special attack and speed statistics to devastating effect. With moves such as Psystrike, Shadow Ball, Aura Sphere, and Nasty Plot at its disposal, Mewtwo the Unrivaled may prove to be quite the challenge for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players to deal with, following the battle against Rillaboom the Unrivaled. However, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players will still have time to prepare for the battle to come.
The seven-star Tera raid battle against Mewtwo the Unrivaled begins on Thursday, August 31 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern, and concludes on Sunday, September 17 at 7:59 p.m. Eastern. Thanks to leaks concerning the battle against Mewtwo the Unrivaled, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers were able to conclude that the Genetic Pokemon will retain the Psychic type as its Tera type, and it will have the Mightiest Mark. However, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players will also have additional Tera raid battle events to face in two waves. The first wave runs from August 8 to August 17, and the second wave will go from August 17 to August 31. Following these waves of Tera raid battles, Mewtwo the Unrivaled can then be challenged in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
When is the Mewtwo Raid in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

With the Psychic type as its Tera type, Mewtwo the Unrivaled will see the potency of its special attacks amplified. Like other seven-star Tera raid bosses before it in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Mewtwo is also likely to use its Hidden Ability called Unnerve, which will render Berries useless. However, this also means that Mewtwo will retain its usual slate of weaknesses, especially to powerful Ghost-type and Dark-type Pokemon. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players that redeem the Mystery Gift code GETY0URMEW can claim a special Mew with a random Tera type and a perk that will grant it a special boost specifically in the battle against Mewtwo the Unrivaled.
Between Mew and various Dark-type Pokemon, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers should have plenty of options for defeating Mewtwo the Unrivaled. While the Pokemon Presents broadcast has come and gone, players will soon have The Teal Mask DLC to look forward to on September 13.
