Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is the latest main series installment in the Pokemon franchise, and it was released to super mixed reviews. While many are happy to have a new Pokemon game, a large percentage of fans are unhappy with the quality of game upon release. Strange glitches are so common that they seem to be a feature, not a bug.

On the flip side, many have been enjoying posting about these amusing glitches. While it's not enough to make up for the amount of money the game costs, it's a small comfort to be able to share in the comedy of the broken game. Plus, some of the glitches are actually helpful to players.

8 I'm (Still) Walkin' Here!

This first glitch is a more minor one, showing the player character completely trapped behind a bench. This is the sort of thing that happens in a lot of games, but it stands to reason that if the player can get behind there in the first place, they should be able to get out. So something somewhere has gone wrong.

Nothing seems to work to get the player out of the tight spot: not jumping, sliding, or crouching. Eagle-eyed fans might recognize the original tweeter in the link below, Dan Salvato, as the mind behind Doki Doki Literature Club, a psychological horror visual novel released in 2017.

7 Wholesome Ceruledge

At first glance, this one is quite sweet, but a hug from a Ceruledge is a terrifying prospect. In this video, it looks about ready to decapitate the player. Horrifying visuals aside, there's not much wrong with this one in terms of gameplay.

Assuming the Pokemon belongs to the player already (because otherwise a battle should have been triggered), this is just standard clipping and good timing. Still, it's rude to turn down a hug from Ceruledge, one of the most popular pre-release Pokemon, and a Violet exclusive.

6 An Average Day In Spain

A player can't even step outside a restaurant in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet without setting off a glitch. Upon leaving the in-game café, an intense bloom is triggered, covering the entire screen with a blinding light. It's as if the sun has completely taken over.

As the replies have pointed out, however, this one is kind of funny. Because Paldea is based on Spain, many Hispanic players have noted that this is just an average day in Spain, a country known for its high temperatures and scorching sun.

5 Be Not Afraid

Be not afraid, biblically accurate Magneton is here. Actually, it's okay to be a little afraid. This glitch shows a cluster of Magneton that really should not have spawned in the same place all at once. Maybe it's a miracle!

With each movement of the Magneton, the magnets circle their bodies in an eerie wing-like pattern reminiscent of 'biblically accurate angels,' the 'true forms' of angels that have been popular as art on social media lately. The video received over one million views over the span of four days, which is pretty impressive!

4 Whatcha Lookin' At?

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is the first main series Pokemon game to offer overworld multiplayer. Players are able to roam the open world together, so they will encounter the same Pokemon, and be able to watch each other battle. In theory, this is fantastic!

In practice, though, it is absolutely full of glitches. Players aren't able to see each other inside buildings at all, and there are tons of graphical glitches ranging from minor to game-breaking. This particularly funny one comes from Twitter user @kocha8164, and is already being used for memes and reaction images across social media.

3 I Know A Shortcut

This isn't the first Nemona glitch that's been reported, and it for sure won't be the last. Instead of taking the stairs that she claims are 'the worst in the world,' the battle-starved rival takes the shortcut of phasing through them altogether.

Many players have reported similar bugs with Nemona and different NPCs, which can really ruin the immersion of cutscenes. There also seems to be some consistency with the glitches, as many have also reported that the opening cutscenes of the game are particularly buggy.

2 You Spin Me Right Round

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Picnic with Sprigatito, Lechonk, and Miraidon

This is one of the most commonly reported glitches in the game, and perhaps one of the cutest. When a Pokemon is presented with a ball in picnic mode, it starts to unnaturally rotate around the ball as if levitating. Out of all the features in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the picnics might be the most unpopular.

While the camps in Pokemon Sword and Shield were a cute way to bond with Pokemon and raise their friendship. Here, on the other hand, glitches seem to reign supreme. Even the sandwich eating animation is notably strange. It's definitely one of the most unfinished parts of an already unfinished game.

1 ...Can I Help You?

a map of paldea featuring cortundo

Another amusing graphical glitch is this one reported by Twitter user @_SPLATTERS_. It shows the player being seemingly followed by a static image of a Rufflet, a Generation 5 Pokemon brought back for this game. What makes this so baffling is how completely out of place the image looks in a 3D game.

As someone has pointed out in the replies, this seems to be a glitch related to the map. It moves in the same way the map does, meaning it is likely a pin from the mini-map that has somehow spawned inside overworld.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available on Nintendo Switch.
