Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are fast approaching their release date, and while The Pokemon Company shared one final trailer with fans a few days ago, it was quickly followed by a massive dump of leaks that span the entirety of Gen 9 games. Leaks didn't just show all the Gym Leaders and Team Star Leaders, but they ended up revealing every critter in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Pokedex, from the starters to the Legendaries. This also includes the various Paradox Pokemon that the last Gen 9 trailer had finally showcased through Great Tusk and Iron Treads, and fans were excited to see Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Paradox Salamence and Paradox Tyranitar in particular, with them being called Roaring Moon and Iron Thorns.

However, among the very first to appear online were Fuecoco's and Smoliv's middle-stage evolutions, which debuted alongside Paldean Tauros when a person who got their copy of the game early posted pictures on Twitter. This was just the beginning, and more details came when players got access to a Pokemon Scarlet ROM with the full game available, from which everything was datamined, including Abilities, moves, and returning Pokemon. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's starters were soon under the spotlight because of this, and fans were quick to comment on their designs.

Leaks Surrounding Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Fuecoco Evolutions

The first starter evolutions to be leaked online were Fuecoco's, with its middle-stage being called Crocalor and its final stage being called Skeledirge. Crocalor appears quite similar to its base form apart from it being bulkier, but what truly changes in its appearance is the fact that the fiery crocodile's hair actually become a flaming egg surrounded by round-shaped flames, almost resembling a sombrero hat. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Skeledirge is a different beast entirely, however, and it becomes a large four-legged crocodile with flames on the sides of its mouth, a flaming bird on its snout, and a rather heavy Ghost-type theme to match its newly acquired secondary type.

Leaks Surrounding Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Sprigatito Evolutions

Shortly after, a new set of leaks began to appear online with the likes of Paldean Wooper's evolution and a Bug/Dark new line of grasshoppers. What followed was Floragato, Sprigatito's middle-stage evolution, which acquires a yo-yo-like weapon and becomes a bipedal Pokemon, with its aesthetic delving more into the trope of thieves and rogues. Sprigatito's final evolution is called Meowscarada, and it's a Grass/Dark-type Pokemon that instead is more akin to stage performers than bandits, and its Pokedex entry calls it "Magician Pokemon," which its appearance doubles down on by giving it a leafy cape and sort of juggler's tool.

Leaks Surrounding Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Quaxly Evolutions

The last Pokemon Scarlet and Violet starter evolution line to surface online was Quaxly's, which does retain its duck-like appearance throughout the stages, even though the final stage also has heavy carnival themes and inspirations. Quaxly's middle-stage evolution is called Quaxwell, which is bigger than its base form and also looks more like a dancer, something that its final stage picks up and takes to the next level. In fact, Quaxly's final evolution is called Quaquaval as a reference to the carnival, and it acquires powerful dance-related Water-type moves.

Overall, each of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's starters has its own motifs that shine to a degree, and this makes them all rather unique. While Skeledirge's secondary type is Ghost, Meowscarada's is Dark, and Quaquaval's is Fighting, all the starters get a signature move for their primary types: Fire, Grass, and Water, respectively. Still, each of them has archetypical characteristics of their secondary type, and it's likely they could also have Hidden Abilities based on them.

PokemonScarlet and Violet release on November 18 for Nintendo Switch.
