The Pokemon franchise has seen no signs of slowing down lately after launching a completely remade Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl late in 2021, only to be followed up by Pokemon Legends: Arceus, months later. In fact, Arceus seemingly took the fanbase by storm by having one of the strongest launches in Switch history. While fans likely figured Nintendo may want to rest a bit on the success of Arceus, the company clearly had other plans.

A month after the launch of Pokemon Legends Arceus, a new presentation revealed the next mainline games in the long-running franchise. The debut trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet mixed live action with snippets of gameplay, revealing large open spaces in a location that clearly takes inspiration from the Iberian Peninsula as well as a first look at the three starters of Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly. Following months of relative silence, a new trailer introduced even more new details on the upcoming title.

The latest trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet starts out with the player's character seemingly starting out their journey and meeting Professor Sada and Turo. Before long, they run into a mysterious girl named Nemona, who seemingly acts as the game's first tutorial battle using a brand-new electric type creature. As it turns out, Nemona serves as the player character's rival throughout Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, likely becoming a checkpoint to test how strong players have become at various points in the campaign.

The fan run website Serebii managed to post an even better look at Nemona with her official artwork. Wearing what appears to be a school uniform, Nemona wears orange shorts, an orange tie, black leggings, and red shoes. Her black hair is pulled back into a ponytail and features just a hint of green. She also has a distinctive black and red glove, which many have started to speculate as to whether this is simply a part of her design, or is a tool similar to the Dynamax Band from Sword and Shield or the Z-Ring from Sun and Moon.

In addition to the reveal of Nemona, the latest Scarlet and Violet trailer had plenty more reveals for fans. From a gameplay perspective, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet supports 4 player co-op as players move around the open world. In addition, both legendary Pokemon were shown off, serpentine style creatures known as Koraidon and Miraodon. As expected, both games are launching simultaneously at the end of the year, arriving on Friday, November 18, 2022.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet launch November 18, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
