A Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player has beaten Rillaboom the Unrivaled, the newest seven-star Tera Raid boss, with just one hit using Magikarp. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Tera Raids are events where players face off against powerful versions of Pokemon. There's no shortage of teams and strategies to take on the Tera Raid bosses, but one that has become a trend among Pokemon players is to win in just one hit, known as "OHKO."

With the conclusion of the Delphox raids, players welcomed Rillaboom as the newest seven-star Tera Raid boss. Introduced in Gen 8, Rillaboom is originally a Grass-type Pokemon, but in the Tera Raid, the Pokemon appears as Normal-type. Rillaboom is the final form of Grookey, one of the Pokemon Sword and Shield starters, and can access Mega Evolution. In its Mega Evolution, Rillaboom merges into a tree stump drum that changes to resemble a drum kit.

Reddit user Nommable123 shared a clip where Magikarp beats Rillaboom with just one hit. When one thinks of weak Pokemon, Magikarp is one of the first that comes to players' minds. And it's not without reason, as the Pokemon is known for using Splash until it finally evolves into Gyarados. The player's strategy consists of having a team with Gallade, Perrserker, Medichan, and Magikarp. Medichan starts by increasing survivability using Def Cheer and Reflect, and Gallade uses 3x Charm and Wide Guard to protect the team from taking damage when Rillaboom uses Boomburst. Gallade then uses Misty Terrain to prevent confusion on Swagger. Perrserker then uses 3x Swagger on Magikarp and Skill Swap (Pure Power) on Magikarp.

The final stage of Nommable123's strategy sees Magikarp use 5x Flail on teammates to build Tera charge and Metronome damage. Medichan uses Helping Hand on Magikarp, who lands a powerful Flail that defeats Rillaboom the Unrivaled. In the comments, one user said they always look forward to videos like the player's when a new raid event starts. Nommable123 is a well-known name in the Pokemon subreddit for their other OHKOs, such as the strategy created to one-shot Tera Typhlosion using Magikarp.

For players who missed the first Tera Raid run with Rillaboom the Unrivaled, a new round of the event featuring the Pokemon will happen between August 4 and 6. Meanwhile, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players can strengthen their teams by getting a free Dark Tera-type Charizard. Charizard was the star of the second Tera Raid released by Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, following the event's debut with Eevee.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
