Every time a new Pokemon generation pops up, fans are curious whether or not they’ll be getting a new Eeveelution in Gen 9. Eevee, time and again, has proven itself to be as big of a mascot for the franchise as Pikachu. Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Umbreon, Espeon, Glaceon, Leafeon, and Sylveon are incredibly popular, and many want to see a new one in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

It remains to be seen if that happens, but that fan desire is certainly palpable. In fact, many have made their own over the years, and one fan recently decided to make their own Eeveelution ahead of any Pokemon Scarlet and Violet reveals, with a Poison-type evolution.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: Poison-Type Eevee Fan Art

Redditor Bvbydragon recently posted their Poison-type Eeveelution to the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet subreddit, showing their chimera-inspired design. While a Poison-type Eeveelution would probably have some more straightforward name like Toxeon may be where a new Eeveelution would go, Chimereon also has a nice ring to it. Either way, it seems—based on this drawing—that Eevee’s fur would become white, with a purple marking on its head, a purple tail, and horns.

Overall, it’s pretty interesting. Bvbydragon’s fan art manages to capture the simplicity of Eeveelution designs but adds some nice unique twists. There’s plenty of Eeveelution fan art, as well as Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fan art out there, and this one stands apart. It essentially poses the question, again, of if the new-gen will add an Eeveelution, and sadly, the answer isn’t too clear.

Will Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Add a New Eeveelution?

At first, it seemed that new Eeveelutions would come in every even-numbered generation. Aside from their introduction in Gen 1, Gen 2 added two (Umbreon, Espeon), Gen 4 added two (Glaceon and Leafeon), and Gen 6 introduced one (Sylveon). Following this logic, Pokemon Sword and Shield should have added a new Eeveelution, and it did not. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet could add a new Eeveelution or two just because Gen 8 didn’t, instead opting to add a Gigantamax Eevee form, but it’s hard to really judge. Indeed, no one wants to go through three gens without a new Eeveelution though.

If Pokemon Scarlet and Violet do add a new Eeveelution, there are quite a few Types it could be. Bvbydragon’s choice of Poison is one of them, while Fighting, Ground, Flying, Bug, Rock, Ghost, Dragon, and Steel are all possibilities. Of these, there are a lot of interesting possibilities, but Ghost or Dragon-type seem least likely because of how types usually work. Any of them these types would be welcome, of course, and fans would be excited at the prospect of a new Eeveelution—as they already are.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are scheduled to release in late 2022 for Switch.
