A Pokemon fan had several unexpected shiny encounters after preparing and eating a dragon sandwich in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, sandwiches offer special limited-time boosts that may prove useful while grinding levels and searching for shiny Pokemon.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet brought players to the Paldea region for the first time last November. Nearly one year later, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players will set off on a new journey in the new DLC titled "The Teal Mask." The Teal Mask is part of "The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero" DLC set, which includes a second DLC launching this upcoming winter. The Teal Mask will launch first on September 13, and players may prepare by obtaining all sandwich recipes and catching all the Pokemon that are currently available in Generation 9.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player Mufasasass recently caught shiny Marill, Starly, and Toxel Pokemon after eating a shiny dragon sandwich in the game. These three Pokemon are not the ones that Mufasasass was looking for, however. The shiny dragon sandwich granted Mufasasass Sparkling Power, Title Power, and Encounter Power bonuses for Dragon-Type Pokemon, and the user is confused as to why the effects did not work toward encounters with the intended Pokemon. Some users have faced a similar predicament after eating a different sandwich but did not have enough luck finding multiple shiny Pokemon like Mufasasass did.

Originally, Mufasasass ate the shiny dragon sandwich in order to encounter and catch a shiny Goomy, which is a Generation 6 Dragon-type Pokemon introduced in Pokemon X and Y. Although Goomy is one of the weaker Dragon-type Pokemon in the series, it may evolve into Sliggoo at level 40. At level 50, Sliggoo may evolve into Goodra, the powerful final form of Goomy.

Mufasasass didn't capture Goomy while the shiny dragon sandwich's effects were active, but the newly acquired shiny Pokemon may be useful for trades with other players. Shiny Pokemon are sought after in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, so other players may find uses for shiny Marill, Starly, and Toxel in their own collection.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's new DLC will introduce several returning starter Pokemon such as Squirtle, Snivy, and Mudkip. Once more, shiny variants of these Pokemon will be in high demand, so shiny sandwich recipes may prove to be useful when "The Indigo Disk" DLC releases this winter. Additionally, a new Pokemon HOME update will allow Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players to transfer hundreds of Pokemon when the new DLC is available.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
