Shiny Pokemon have long been part of the mainline series, often becoming the most valuable critters players can catch, and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are no exception to this rule. If anything, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's shiny hunting sandwiches made for a fun and rewarding method provided players know where to look for which Pokemon and how to best spend the buff's 30 minutes to try and catch the most shinies they can. With a ton of new Pokemon added through the Paldea region in Gen 9, players have plenty of pocket monsters to find in their shiny version, and that includes the various Paradox Pokemon found in Area Zero.

Paradox Pokemon are competitive powerhouses other than being objectively strong in most scenarios, and players willing to find shiny ones can try the Herba Mystica sandwiches. Not all of the shiny Paradox Pokemon have great color palettes, though, and some of them can be a bit disappointing as much as others can be amazing.

This tier list doesn't include entries for Koraidon and Miraidon, which are indeed Paradox Pokemon, but they have been shiny-locked since Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's release. Likewise, the shiny versions of Walking Wake and Iron Leaves are absent because they are shiny-locked, and their color palette is only known via datamining.

Shiny Starter Pokemon Tier List

Pokemon games have amassed quite a lot of starter critters, but not all of their shiny forms are amazing, whereas others can disappoint.

S Tier

  • Flutter Mane
  • Great Tusk
  • Roaring Moon
  • Iron Bundle
  • Iron Valiant

These shiny Pokemon are S tier because they gain spectacular colors that enhance their appearance by making them stand out even more than they normally would in their base form.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Flutter Mane essentially won the lottery, as it not only has incredible stats and moves that make it OP in competitive, with its type combo even boosting it further, and then it also comes with a great shiny version on top of all that. There are other Paradox Pokemon that can compete with it for their shiny versions, though, with the likes of Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant having great texture and colors.

A Tier

  • Slither Wing
  • Iron Thorns
  • Iron Jugulis

The shiny Pokemon in A tier are critters with amazing color palettes that deserve high praise for the way they look compared to their base versions. In some cases, a more bland shiny color palette is helped by multiple forms for the pocket monster.

While there's an argument to be made for Iron Thorns to be less powerful than Tyranitar, its original counterpart, the Pokemon's shiny in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is much improved from its base version thanks to the more visible metallic texture and reflections. Similarly, Slither Wing and Iron Jugulis are much more interesting than their regular color patterns when found as shinies.

B Tier

  • Sandy Shocks
  • Iron Hands
  • Iron Treads

These shiny Pokemon fall in B tier because most of the time they have some color palette changes that are actually subpar or somewhat disappointing because they mainly consist of a shade change.

Iron Hands can single-handedly beat 6-Star Tera Raids in most cases, which is quite the accomplishment, but it falls a bit flat when it comes to its shiny version, which is just a bit brighter on the metal parts and has differently colored pants and head. Similarly, Iron Treads and Sandy Shocks don't really leave their mark when they appear as shiny.

C Tier

  • Scream Tail
  • Brute Bonnet
  • Iron Moth

There are also shiny Pokemon that are not particularly different from their base versions, to the point that only a small bit or detail of their appearance changes, or simply their color palette remains mostly identical.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Scream Tail won a big tournament thanks to Perish Song and Trick Room, but its shiny is not very dissimilar from the base version, with the main difference being that the shades of red are replaced by purple. Brute Bonnet's main change is the Poke Ball red color being switched to blue, and Iron Moth's shiny is barely visible due to the color change being tied to the small triangles on its wings going from red to metal.
