The boss for the third seven-star Tera Raid Event of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has been confirmed to be none other than Greninja. The water-type starter will become available to catch in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet for the first time as part of the event.Tera Raids are an integral part of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, with five and six-star raids being great ways to obtain Herba Mystica, a type of item which is vital for prospective shiny hunters. While most raids are doable solo so long as players have a generally good, hard-hitting Pokemon, the recent addition of seven-star raids is a different beast entirely. These raids, which started with the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Charizard Tera Raid Event, are far more difficult than other raids, though they give players the opportunity to catch Pokemon otherwise unobtainable in the latest set of games.RELATED: Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Player Finds Hidden Cave in Area ZeroThe third and latest seven-star Tera Raid Event has been confirmed to feature Greninja as its boss, boasting the poison Tera-type. Many players expected Greninja to join Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in the latest Tera Raid, with it being one of the most popular starter Pokemon in history, and it doing so will also mean Froakie and Frogadier will become obtainable through breeding. The event will run from 00:00 UTC, January 27th, 2023, through to 23:59 UTC on January 29th. It will then repeat at the same times from February 10th through to February 12th, 2023. During this time, players will be able to obtain Greninja at special Tera Raid dens visible on their map, so long as they can best it in battle.

All Greninja obtainable as part of the event will possess the Mightiest Mark, as is typical of seven-star raids. This means that the player will only be able to catch a single Greninja per save file, though they can still trade with other users through online play. Slowbro was the unexpected hero of the Cinderace Tera Raid Event, but it will likely struggle against Greninja due to the latter's penchant for hard-hitting dark-type moves despite it trading its immunity to psychic moves for a weakness to them due to its Poison Tera-typing.

Greninja also has the upper hand against the best Azumarill Raid Build, likely being able to hit the critter super-effectively with Gunk Shot to prevent it from using Belly Drum early on. Its Tera typing of Poison also lets it resist Iron Hands' Drain Punch - meaning players will probably have to come up with some new strategies for the latest seven-star raid. However, what these will be remains to be seen until Greninja's full move set becomes public knowledge following the beginning of the event.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
