Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers waiting to take on Mewtwo the Unrivaled now have some new Tera raids to tide them over and prepare them for the upcoming battle. These new Tera raids in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet feature three Pokemon that can be used against Mewtwo and offer generous rewards for defeating them.

During the August 8 broadcast of Pokemon Presents, The Pokemon Company announced that Mew and Mewtwo will be available for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers to obtain in two different ways. While Mew can be obtained via the Mystery Gift option with the code GETY0URMEW until September 18, trainers will have to wait until August 31 to face Mewtwo the Unrivaled in a seven-star Tera raid battle. The fierce Genetic Pokemon will retain the Psychic type as its Tera type and will be a formidable foe for even the most organized teams. Luckily, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet released a wave of new Tera raids to prepare trainers ahead of time.

This new Tera raid event is titled "Prepare the Offense" and is the first of two Tera raid waves that will take place in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet throughout August. Until Thursday, August 17 at 7:59 p.m. Eastern, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players can face Hydreigon, Scizor, and Blissey in five-star Tera raid battles to earn a variety of helpful rewards. At the conclusion of this first wave, the second wave will begin immediately after. The five-star Tera raid Pokemon will have different Tera types, and trainers will earn valuable rewards for defeating them. These rewards range from Tera shards of different types to stat-raising vitamins, technical machines (TMs), and EXP Candy.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet "Prepare the Offense" Tera Raid Event

  • Tuesday, August 8 at 8:00 p.m. to Thursday, August 17 at 7:59 p.m.

According to Serebii.net, the Hydreigon and Scizor Tera raids will have an increased chance to drop Vitamins and TMs. Likewise, the Blissey Tera raids will drop more Tera Shards and EXP Candies for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players to use as they see fit. Given the fact that the free Mew from the aforementioned Mystery Gift distribution event will receive a boost when facing Mewtwo the Unrivaled, some of the rewards can be used to boost Mew to Level 100 and adjust its effort values (EVs) and Tera type for the battle to come. Though Mewtwo the Unrivaled will be a Psychic-type boss, it remains to be seen what moves it will use in battle.

With The Teal Mask DLC on the horizon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the Mew and Mewtwo event may set the tone for future Pokemon events. Only time will tell what The Pokemon Company will do beyond that.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
