Nintendo has started a new Mystery Gift distribution event for Pokemon Scarletand Violet, offering up a useful item via a special code. Mystery Gift distributions have been few and far between since Pokemon ScarletandViolet's release this past November, with a focus on League Points and food items. Pokemon players will be pleased to receive an item they might find more useful, regardless of where they are or what they're doing in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.Mystery Gift codes are unfortunately quite rare and quick to expire for Pokemon Scarlet andViolet. For example, four recent codes provided a random drop that could be League Points, a Comet Shard, a Star Piece, or Stardust. These codes expired after just 10 days, however. Previous Mystery Gifts were similarly available for short periods of time. The goal, it seems, is to prompt Pokemon Scarletand Violet players to log on lest they otherwise miss the gift availability.The new Mystery Gift code will be available for significantly longer than previous codes. It will last from January 18 through February 28, well over a month. There's no need to rush in-game, then, and players can load up Pokemon Scarlet or Violet at their own pace. The Mystery Gift itself rewards an Ability Capsule. In order to claim it, players need to enter the code T0KUSE1STUDY by selecting Poke Portal and then Mystery Gift from their menus. Note that players need to reach the first Pokemon Center in Los Platos to unlock this functionality.

An Ability Capsule is an item that allows players to change any given Pokemon's Ability. It can only be used outside of battle, so it's not intended for combat, by any means. It simply will change one of a Pokemon's standard Abilities to another standard Ability. For example, using an Ability Capsule on a Pidgey with Keen Eye will swap it to Tangled Feet, or vice versa if used again. It can't be used on Pokemon with only a single standard ability.
The new code was shared today during a special Japanese Pokemon broadcast on YouTube. The show is named the After School Pokemon Study Club and features various content creators talking about Pokemon. That latest episode is themed "cute." Unfortunately, the YouTube show is region locked to Japan.
Hopefully, the new Mystery Gift code is a hint of future plans for similar distribution events in Pokemon ScarletandViolet. Useful items available for longer periods of time are a great way to keep players checking in to see if more Mystery Gift codes have been added since they last checked. Don't wait too long to claim the Ability Capsule, though, as it expires on February 28.
