Once again, Pokemon fans have found themselves in the familiar situation of waiting between entries and even new generations of the franchise. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are due to release on November 18, which means players only have two months to go before the first fully open-world games in the series are in their hands. This means that there are tons of people who are currently planning their teams and debating on which version to get, wanting to know all they can before choosing between Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

This is where leaks might come in handy for those who don't mind spoilers, as knowing what version exclusives are available could help sway players towards a decision on which game to buy. Due to this, a fair number of leakers have already appeared on the internet to share all kinds of interesting information, such as that Scarlet and Violet will feature a "Kamen Rider" Pokemon, as well as new fish and parrot pocket monsters. There have also been leaks that say which familiar creatures are getting in, and which ones will have to sit the next adventure out.

Chandelure and Joltik Aren't In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Chandelure and Joltik are two Pokemon originally introduced in generation five that have a considerable number of fans. Chandelure is a Ghost/Fire-type creature that looks like a haunted candle chandelier, while Joltik is a tiny Bug/Electric-type spider that is known for being one of the smallest creatures found in the franchise. These two critters, as well as their evolutionary stages, can be found in the main gen 8 games, PokemonSword and Shield.

These two critters are rather popular with fans, as Chandelure was dubbed the Unova Pokemon of the Year in 2020, and Joltik's evolved form is an important member of Subway Master Emmet's team, who's a fan favorite character in his own right. However, even though Emmet's brother Ingo was part of Pokemon Legends: Arceus, and previous Pokemon release patterns point towards remakes of the generation five games possibly coming soon, both Chandelure and Joltik aren't in Scarlet and Violet, according to leakers.

The Terastallization Phenomenon with Chandelure and Joltik

The Terastallization Phenomenon is the new gimmick found in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. It envelops the world-famous pocket monsters in a crystalline aura and amplifies their current type or changes their type altogether. The type of power-up a Pokemon obtains is visualized by a crown atop the critter's head that makes it rather obvious which type the creature has gained. An example of this is how Pokemon like Sprigatito gain a crown with gigantic flowers to emphasize their Grass typing.

Due to the nature of how Game Freak chose to visualize Pokemon's Tera-types, Chandelure would be a perfect fit as the creature is literally already something widely known to be sparkly. With what the crowns for Ghost-types and Fire-types look like, it would make Chandelure look huge with either a giant crystal ghost or more candles on its head. Far as Joltik goes, the small size of the spider Pokemon makes one wonder if the crown would be adjusted to match, or if the crown would have to sit on the critter's body as a whole just to fit.

Both images are hilarious to think about and would have brought a laugh to a few playthroughs, but it seems that these pocket monsters won't get their chance to literally shine if the leaks are to be believed. It's quite a big missed opportunity on Game Freak's part, but luckily there will certainly be other Pokemon to be found in Scarlet and Violet that will look just as silly with the big sparkly crowns/visualizations on their heads. After all, the leakers have already given fans a sizable idea of what Scarlet and Violet's Pokedex will be like already.

Even though it may be sad to hear that these fan-favorite Pokemon won't be part of this new adventure, it's understandable that Chandelure and Joltik wouldn't be in Scarlet and Violet due to their inclusion in Sword and Shield. After generation eight marked the end of the National Pokedex, fans have been concerned that some creatures would be left in favor of others ever since the change took place. The fact that Game Freak is removing two pocket monsters who've already been in a recent game is great for making sure every critter gets included. However, when it comes to which Terastallized Pokemon will look the goofiest, it seems players will need to wait and see that for themselves when the game arrives.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will launch on November 18 for the Nintendo Switch.
