Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is all set to hold a new 7-star tera raid event which will be featuring Meganium with the Mightiest Mark. Hailing from the Johto region in Generation 2 and being an evolution of one of the most adorable Pokemon, Chikorita, Meganium is considered an extremely powerful Grass-type.

While players could get Meganium in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet by evolving Chikortia, this raid has some extra perks with some really exciting rewards, an exclusive Mighty Mark, and the Psychic-tera type. Here is how to beat Unrivaled Meganium in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

With Pokemon Scarlet and Violet comes new Fighting-type Pokemon, leaving fans wondering which ones are the best in the game now.

How to Unlock Unrivaled Meganium Tera Raid

Before players can jump into the Meganium Tera Raid, there are a few steps they need to follow. Firstly, it is crucial to note that beating the base game and completing the Academy Ace Tournament is absolutely mandatory. On top of that, players will also need to take part in around 10 5-star raids before Jacq calls them to let them know that they can now take part in 6-star raids. Once that's done, they are all set to take part in 7-star raids.

Unlike 5-star and 6-star raids, 7-star raids are much easier to locate since they have a distinctive appearance on the map, with a unique black color. Just like the other 7-star Tera Raids, players will only be able to catch this once per game, but most players use it for getting the rewards, so that shouldn't be a concern as such. The event will take place in two phases with the first one running between Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. PDT to Sunday, April 7, 2024, at 4:59 p.m. PDT, and the second one between Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. PDT to Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 4:59 p.m. PDT.

Best Counters For Meganium With Mightiest Mark

Pokemon Gen 9 Skeledirge

Before knowing the counters, it is crucial to know how Tera-types work as there is a lot of misconception in the community regarding it. The addition of a Tera-type in Meganium means that it will now benefit from the STAB bonus for two types, Grass and Psychic, while its base defensive typing will change to Psychic. So instead of Grass, it will now be vulnerable to moves that are strong against Psychic-types. Its possible moves include Seed Bomb, Zen Headbutt, Body Pres, Curse, Reflect, Light Screen, and Bulldoze.

While many players were initially planning to use the likes of Scizor and Annihilape for this event, it seems like those options haven't really worked that well. Thankfully, there exists a well-rounded option to take down Mighty Meganium without much hassle. Players seem to be having a lot of success with Ghost-Tera Skeledirge, which does have a pretty unique type match-up of Fire & Ghost. Its Ghost-Tera type ensures that Meganium's STAB Psychic moves don't hit as hard, while it can take advantage of its STAB bonus as well as Tera-type bonus to deal a huge amount of damage to Meganium.

While other Ghost-type Pokemon should work as well, players should be wary of its moveset, which can prove to be quite lethal with moves like Curse and Body Press in its arsenal. Another popular Pokemon that players have been using is Incineroar, but it has been a hit or miss. Some other excellent options include Umbreon, Roaring Moon, and Malamar.

Can Mighty Meganium Be Shiny?

For players looking for a shiny Meganium through this event, they are probably at the wrong place. 7-Star Tera Raids have always been shiny-locked, and that's true for the Meganium raid as well. Players should instead try shiny hunting in the Blueberry Academy to get their hands on a shiny Chikorita which can then eventually be evolved into Meganium. The only catch is that it will not have the coveted Mightiest Mark.
