Days after the conclusion of the Seven-Star Tera Raids against Primarina, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players will have a new challenge against Five-Star Tera raid bosses Sandy Shocks and Iron Thorns. These version-exclusive Pokemon Scarlet and Violet raid bosses will be available for three days but will have various Tera types.

The new Five-Star Tera raids will arrive after the departure of Primarina the Unrivaled. As two of the Paradox Pokemon introduced in the ninth generation, Sandy Shocks is exclusive to Pokemon Scarlet, and Iron Thorns is found in Pokemon Violet. Like other Paradox Pokemon, Sandy Shocks and Iron Thorns are each based on Magneton and Tyranitar. In battle, Sandy Shodcks is a fast special attacker with access to moves such as Earth Power and Thunderbolt. By comparison, Iron Thorns is slower but possesses higher attack and defense statistics, and can use Earthquake, Thunder Punch, and Stone Edge to deal serious damage.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Player Finds Trick To Get Guaranteed Shiny Pokemon

A Pokemon Scarlet & Violet bug allows players to get unlimited shiny versions of a Pokemon, and it is surprisingly easy to pull it off.

While both Pokemon can be found in Area Zero in their respective versions, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers will soon have another way to catch Sandy Shocks and Iron Thorns. According to Serebii.net, the Five-Star Tera raid battles against Sandy Shocks and Iron Thorns will start on Thursday, May 23, at 8:00 PM Eastern, and end on Sunday, May 26, at 7:59 PM Eastern. Unlike previous Tera raid battles against Paradox Pokemon like Walking Wake and Iron Leaves, the Five-Star battles versus Sandy Shocks and Iron Thorns will not have a repeat run. Both Pokemon can have any type as their Tera type, and the rewards will range from EXP Candies to Tera Shards based on the bosses' corresponding Tera types.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet 5-Star Paradox Tera Raids (May 2024)

  • Sandy Shocks will appear in Pokemon Scarlet, as will Iron Thorns in Pokemon Violet.
  • Both 5-Star Tera Raids will run from May 23 to May 26.
  • Each Paradox Pokemon will come with various Tera types.

Normally, Sandy Shocks is an Electric and Ground dual-type Pokemon, while Iron Thorns has the Rock and Electric types. In both scenarios, both Paradox Pokemon will likely start their battles by using Sunny Day and Electric Terrain to activate their abilities. Protosynthesis and Quark Drive bolster the highest stats of each Paradox Pokemon, which would be Sandy Shocks' special attack stat and Iron Thorns' attack. However, both Five-Star boss Pokemon will have their levels set to 75. A competitive Pokemon team that can resist Electric-type attacks and exploit the weakness of the Tera type at play should have little trouble taking down Sandy Shocks and Iron Thorns.

Though both Paradox Pokemon are not uncommon in their respective games, Pokemon trainers looking to farm Tera shards will have a short time to do so. It remains to be seen when the next Seven-Star Tera raid battles will arrive in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
