A talented artist completes an original concept of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Koraidon as a Monster Hunter-style creature. Koraidon is one of several Legendary Pokemon introduced with the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet last November.

The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet games have a Legendary Pokemon tied to their respective versions. Koraidon is the exclusive Legendary Pokemon and mascot for Pokemon Scarlet, while Miraidon serves the same purpose for Pokemon Violet. These Legendary Pokemon act as the player's mount while traversing the Paldea region, and players may add Koraidon and Miraidon to their team by completing the main story of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. These new Pokemon quickly became favorites in the community, and one fan decided to create an original concept of Koraidon as a Monster Hunter creature.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player and fan artist Xezeno finished an original concept for Koraidon, which imagines the Legendary Pokemon as a creature from Monster Hunter. The original concept appears to take inspiration from Rathalos, one of the most recognizable flying monsters from the Monster Hunter series. Like Rathalos, the Koraidon concept features dark red scales and a thick, spiky tale. However, Koraidon retains its signature plumes and antennae, which are white, blue, and purple in color.

Koraidon and Rathalos both serve as reptilian icons for the Pokemon and Monster Hunter franchises respectively. Rathalos was the flagship monster of the original Monster Hunter game for the PlayStation 2, and it's often recognized as a flagship monster for the entire franchise. Koraidon serves a similar purpose alongside Miraidon as mascot Pokemon for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, but the creatures appear to be more benevolent to humans when compared to Rathalos in Monster Hunter.

Despite their differences, Koraidon and Rathalos share interesting similarities as powerful reptile creatures in gaming. Xezeno's artwork highlights the common traits between the Pokemon and the monster while Koraidon's most prominent features are from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. In the Monster Hunter-inspired art style, Koraidon makes for a potentially menacing monster as well. It's unlikely that the two franchises will cross over in an official capacity, but the artwork is incredible nonetheless.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players may look forward to new Legendary Pokemon in the upcoming Treasure of Area Zero DLC. New areas will be introduced in the new DLC, allowing players to explore with Koraidon and Miraidon once more to unlock secrets surrounding the Pokemon franchise's most ancient and mysterious Pokemon.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
