A nostalgic gamer has created instruction booklets for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the latest games in the long-running Pokemon franchise. There once was a time when nearly all video games came bundled with helpful instruction manuals that not only explained how to play the game, but also provided insight on the story, characters, and more.

Unfortunately, instruction manuals are now largely a thing of the past. Occasionally, a video game will be released with a traditional instruction book, but it's an increasingly rare occurrence. As the gaming industry continues marching to an increasingly digital future, instruction books have become virtually nonexistent, with physical game boxes typically having nothing more than the actual game disc or cartridge inside of them.

The same can be said for Nintendo-published video games. The vast majority of Nintendo Switch boxes come with nothing more than the cartridge inside or maybe some promotional material. This is true for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and so Reddit user SonnyL85 took matters into their own hands. They made impressive instruction booklets for both Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet, sharing some images of their contents online.

As can be seen in the images, the fan-made Pokemon Scarlet and Violet instruction manuals include all kinds of important information that players need to know about the games. There's a page about the Terastal gimmick, some details about the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet starter Pokemon, and write-ups about other Pokemon that players encounter on their adventures in the Paldea region.

Speaking of the Paldea region, the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet instruction manuals include a map of the game with some very helpful information. The map shows where Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players can encounter Titan Pokemon, fight Gym leaders, and battle Team Star members. These are the main objectives in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet that players have to complete if they hope to beat the games' main story.

The instruction manuals look professional and could have easily been passed off as the real deal. Unfortunately, it's highly unlikely that physical instruction booklets are going to make a comeback in video games. But while Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players don't have official instruction booklets to look forward to, they at least have new in-game content on the Horizon. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC is on the way later this year that will add new Pokemon, story content, and more to the games.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
