Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be receiving DLC in the form of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. It will be arriving in two parts, with the first half, titled The Teal Mask, set to launch in spring 2023. The second half, titled The Indigo Disk, has a winter 2023 release date. The Teal Mask will be taking players to a region inspired by Japan, which makes it somewhat easier to guess which Pokemon may make a return. However, it is a lot harder to do the same for The Indigo Disk.

Currently, players know next to nothing about The Indigo Disk, though it appears that it will lean in a sci-fi direction. This makes it more difficult to determine which Pokemon may be making a return. Some creatures may be a good fit, though players will ultimately have to wait for the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's DLC to discover what ecosystem The Indigo Disk presents.

The Themes of The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk

The Teal Mask is set in Kitakami, and players travel there from Paldea as part of a school trip. It is described as a tranquil place with rice paddies and apple orchards, though there is plenty of excitement when players arrive due to the festival being held. In The Indigo Disk, players will travel to Blueberry Academy as exchange students. Kitakami has Japanese influences, as seen by the attire worn by the characters in the promotional material, and the mention of rice paddies which are common in Japan. There has been a lot less revealed about this DLC, but it will tie into The Teal Mask's plot. Judging by the promotional material for The Indigo Disk which features a futuristic battlefield and characters in futuristic clothing, the second DLC may have a bit more of a sci-fi theme.

What Pokemon Can Players Expect in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero

It appears that The Teal Mask will feature Pokemon that match its Japanese theme. The revealed Pokemon include Munkidori, Fezandipiti, and Okidogi, which may hint at a Japanese folktale. There are plenty more Pokemon from past generations that tie into Japanese mythology, including Ninetales, which is based on the mythical nine-tailed fox, and Mawile, which may draw inspiration from a yokai called the Futakuchi-onna.

It is a bit trickier to figure out which Pokemon would fit into The Indigo Disk's themes. The only legendary Pokemon that has been revealed from the DLC is Terapagos, which looks like a large turtle with a colorful shell. There are some space-themed Pokemon that may be appropriate in The Indigo Disk, including creatures like Deoxys, Lunatone, and Solrock. Pokemon associated with technology may also be fitting, which could mean the return of creatures like Genesect and Magearna. It would also be very interesting if Silvally makes an appearance, as it may strengthen the rumored connections between The Indigo Disk and Pokemon X and Y.

With the Pokedex as large as it currently is, it is unlikely that gamers will enjoy a title with all the Pokemon in them any time soon. This means developers have to make careful decisions when deciding which Pokemon to fill up the open-world with. With the upcoming Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, a lot of old favorites may make a return, though gamers will have a hard time trying to predict what The Indigo Disk's roster will look like.
