The Indigo Disk DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet appears to use real-life time zones to determine the fictional time zones for in-game regions. In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, players may venture out of the Paldea region after completing the base game's main story and purchasing The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, which includes two DLC expansions.

More than one year after the launch of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, The Pokemon Company released The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 2: The Indigo Disk, a new DLC that takes players to the Terarium. Founded by the Blueberry Academy, Terarium is an undersea facility teeming with wild Pokemon in four distinct biomes. The facility was designed as a learning environment for trainers from around the Pokemon world, but it also serves as a proving ground for experienced trainers thanks to the competitive Blueberry League, which has its own Elite Four. Players may explore the Terarium, train their Pokemon, and discover new secrets while preparing to battle against the Blueberry's Elite Four. In addition, players may use a new research device called the Synchro Machine to see the world from their favorite Pokemon's perspective.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Break 23-Year Togepi Tradition

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet break multiple traditions from the series' past, and a big one for Togepi that started in Gen 2 is among them.

Serebii webmaster Joe Merrick discovered that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's The Indigo Disk DLC uses real-life time zones to calculate time zone differences between Paldea, Kitakami, and Terarium. According to Merrick, Terarium is 18 minutes ahead of Paldea, which is converted to roughly six hours in real time. This appears to be a reference to the six-hour time zone difference between New York and Spain. In this case, the difference in time appears to be inverted, since Paldea is six hours behind Terarium. The Paldea region is based on the Iberian Peninsula, which comprises modern day Spain, Portugal, and Andorra. On the other hand, Kitakami is based on Japan's Tohoku region.

It's worth noting that the timezone differences do not appear to take The Teal Mask DLC's Kitakami into account, according to Merrick's discovery. The Twitter user clarifies that the time zone difference between Paldea and Kitakami is also 18 minutes, but the real-life time difference between Spain and Japan is eight hours instead of six.

This intriguing discovery could be helpful for Pokemon fans wanting to create a map of the known Pokemon world. However, the discrepancy in time zone differences between Paldea and Kitakami may make the map-making process more challenging, since there's already a lack of information regarding Kitakami's exact location in the world.
