There are a whole lot of bug Pokemon to choose from in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, and Sinnoh’s Kricketot and Kricketune are among them. But how do they hold up relative to the many other options available in the game?
Kricketune got a bit of a glow-up back in 2022 when the Pokemon served as a meme and as one of the first major challenges in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Pokemon Scarlet & Violet keep the Pokemon around, but it doesn’t get the boss treatment it did in Hisui.
Players will still want to catch the cricket Pokemon, but where can they do so? Here’s where to find Kricketot and Kricketune, and whether they’re worth using.
Where to Find Kricketot in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Kricketot is exclusively found in South Province Area Two. This is the territory surrounding Cortondo, home of gym leader Katy. Katy doesn’t actually have a Kricketot or Kricketune on her team, despite being a bug-type gym leader with the Pokemon being indigenous to her region but players can use that against her by catching a Kricketot right outside her city.

Where to Catch Kricketune
Kricketune can be found and caught in North Province Area Two. While Kricketot is exclusively available in an early-game area, Kricketune is exclusively available in a late-game area full of powerful Pokemon that are hostile toward the player. Its habitat page can be seen here:
While Kricketune is found in a late-game area where players can farm Attack EVs, it’s meant to serve as an early-game Pokemon. Players can catch a Kricketot and evolve it into Kricketune by simply raising it up to level 10.
Is Kricketune a Good Pokemon?
Kricketune is a weak Pokemon that doesn’t hold up well in any form of battling in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. The Pokemon is primarily meant to serve as an early power spike for players tackling the early-game challenges but doesn’t have the stats to hold up against most other Pokemon.
This is demonstrated well with its 384 base stat total. For the sake of comparison, fellow bug Pokemon Lokix has 450 total base stats.
Kricketune also doesn’t have anything that sets it apart from the competition. While a unique ability, move, or battle mechanic can let a Pokemon like Butterfree or Smeargle become wildly overpowered despite having incredibly low base stats, Kricketune doesn’t have anything going for it.
The Pokemon can be useful against the first two gym leaders but also struggles against the first three Titan Pokemon which include a rock-type, flying-type, and steel-type. Players ought to drop Kricketune once they’ve beaten Katy and Brassius.
