Pokemon Scarlet & Violet has introduced players to a wide variety of new Pokemon in its new Spain-inspired region. Through canyons, mountains, grasslands, and more, players can find many new Pokemon in the ninth generation—the second-newest generation to hit the Nintendo Switch console. With so many new Pokemon, players can find themselves wondering which are the best, and which are the best in specific typing?

For grass-type Pokemon in Scarlet & Violet, there isn't an incredible majority of newcomers to the franchise, but there sure are some amazing grass-type Pokemon, and some could arguably be considered some of the best grass-type Pokemon in the entire franchise.

7 Brambleghast

Brambleghast is a new grass & ghost-type Pokemon that fans will notice looks very close to a tumbleweed. This Pokemon evolves from Bramblin after the player has let the Pokemon "roll" around by walking in the "Let's Go!" feature.

Brambleghast is a pretty fair offensive Pokemon, with a base attack stat of 115, and its ability Wind Rider allows it to power up its attack stat off of wind-based moves like Tailwind. Wind-based moves also don't damage Brambleghast. For best results in a competitve sense, players should seek out an adamant Brambleghast.

6 Scovillain

Scovillain is a great Pokemon that players can obtain fairly early on in Pokemon: Scarlet & Violet. This Pokemon evolves from Capsakid and gains the fire-type, making it a unique fire and grass-type Pokemon.

This pepper-inspired Pokemon has two heads, and those heads are capable of some great equally devastating physical and special attacks. Scovillain is also one of the best Pokemon for players seeking to beat Scarlet & Violet using only grass-type Pokemon. This dual-headed Pokemon is great for burning and mowing down opponents.

5 Arboliva

Arboliva

Arboliva is definitely one of the best grass-types in generation 9 of the Pokemon franchise, and arguably one of the greatest grass-type Pokemon of all generations. Arboliva is the final evolutionary form of Smoliv, and is a normal and grass-type Pokemon. Because of its normal-typing that it gains upon evolution, it gains a weakness to the fighting-type, but gains an immunity to ghost-type moves.

Arboliva has a unique ability called Seed Sower that allows the Pokemon to turn the terrain into a Grass Terrain upon getting hit. Arboliva is a slow Pokemon, but has great health and defense, making for a great tank Pokemon that can continuously sap health from opponents.

4 Toedscruel

Toedscruel is one of the Pokemon in Paldea that perfectly resembles a past Pokemon, but is technically not considered a Paldean form of that Pokemon. Toedscruel is a ground and grass-type Pokemon that evolves from Toedscool at level 30.

This Pokemon has a unique ability called Mycelium Might that makes it to where its status moves are slower, but unimpeded by any opponent's ability. Toedscruel is a great tank for special-attacking Pokemon like Gardevoir, making to be a great pivot Pokemon in those situations.

3 Meowscarada

Meowscarada is the final evolutionary form of the grass-type starter Pokemon, Sprigatito. Meowscarada is a dark and grass-type Pokemon, and has incredible speed. In fact, Meowscarada is the fastest starter Pokemon in the entire franchise's history. This Pokemon also has a great attack stat, making to be a very swiftly acting offensive attacker.

Meowscarada can also withhold the hidden ability Protean, which changes its type to the type of the move it's about to use. Though this Pokemon has a very wide range of type-advantages, it also has a wide range of weaknesses, so players should watch out for pesky bugs.

2 Brute Bonnet

Brute Bonnet is a great Paradox Pokemon that players can obtain at the Great Crater of Paldea or Area Zero. This Amoongus-resembling grass and dark-type Pokemon can only be captured in Pokemon: Scarlet.

Brute Bonnet is simply one of the best Pokemon when it comes tanking damage and dealing out physical damage, as its attack stat sits at an initial 127, and its health is a solid initial stat of 111. Brute Bonnet is a great competitive choice in terms of type-advantages, terastallizing, or simply breaking out some strategic moves like Rage Powder.

1 Wo-Chien

At the very head of this list is the mythical legendary Pokemon Wo-Chien. This Pokemon is one of the four Treasures of Ruin Pokemon that players can obtain in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. In order to obtain this grass and dark-type Pokemon, players must unlock its gate by collecting stakes in the eastern South Providence area.

Wo-Chien is one of the best Pokemon in the game, and that's simply because of its incredible stats. Wo-Chien is a great special-attacker with amazing special-defensive stats. It's also great to note that Wo-Chien has the special ability, Tablets of Ruin that allows it to lower the attack stat of all Pokemon except for itself, making it a great pivot Pokemon for attackers.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is available on the Nintendo Switch.
