Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fans discover potential hints that Gen 10, when it releases in a few years, will be based on Australia and perhaps other parts of Oceania. As many fans know, Pokemon games are based on real-world regions, with Gens 1-4 being based on various parts of Japan, Pokemon Black and White's Unova being based on New York state, Pokemon X and Y being based on France, Pokemon Sun and Moon being based on Hawaii, Pokemon Sword and Shield being based on the United Kingdom, and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet being based on the Iberian Peninsula.

The thing is, a few of these regions were hinted at in previous games. Pokemon X and Y hinted at Pokemon Sun and Moon's Alola, while Pokemon Sword, Shield, Brilliant Diamond, and Shining Pearl hinted at Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. And now fans think they've found hints for Gen 10's region.

As pointed out by fans (and reported at Nintendo Life), there is a painting in the Academy's art classroom that seemingly depicts Uluru. This is a giant sandstone monolith found in Australia, a site sacred to indigenous Australians. It is over 1000 feet higher than the surrounding desert and roughly six miles in circumference. It's obviously more than solid inspiration for a Pokemon Gen 10 game, but such a massive structure could play a huge role in a Pokemon narrative too. Comparing Uluru to the image in the classroom gives this theory some weight, as it does appear to be a recreation of Uluru.

Australia and parts of Oceania would make for an interesting pair of games, as there are many 'Australia is Pokemon region' memes out there due to the location's deadly wildlife. There are Pokemon already based on Australian creatures that could appear here, while more Pokemon based on koalas, kangaroos, dingoes, wallabies, and quokkas would be welcome. However, it should be noted that this is not the only potential hint fans have found in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Players have noticed a painting called "Street, Midday" that depicts a "beautiful town in a different region." This painting seemingly hints at an Italy-based region for Pokemon Gen 10, as the painting resembles Tuscany, Sicily, and Sardinia. Gen 10 is years away though, and fans are likely to receive Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC, a new remake, a spin-off or two, and perhaps even another Pokemon Legends game before Gen 10 ever rears its head.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now, exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
