The beginning of 2022 has turned out to be an exciting time for Pokemon fans. Not only did Pokemon Legends: Arceus release at the end of January, but only a couple of weeks later, gamers learned several details about the next installment in the series, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. While there was a lot to take in the roughly 3-minute trailer for the upcoming game, one highlight was the reveal of a new group of starter Pokemon.

Among the starters introduced in the trailer was Fuecoco. Confirmed to be a Fire-type Pokemon, it features a crocodile-like design with a fire red coloration. Since its announcement, many fans have been loving the look of the new Gen 9 Pokemon. As a result, one artistic gamer decided to celebrate the reveal of the new starter with an original piece of fan art.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as petrylopes shared a picture they had drawn based on the Pokemon franchise. Specifically, this artwork featured Fuecoco, one of the starters from the upcoming PokemonScarletandViolet. However, the artist did not stop there as they decided to include 3 more crocodile-themed Pokemon from the series. Seen hanging out in the image with Fuecoco was Totodile, Sandile, and even Gible. Humorously, the Reddit user chose to give Gible a crocodilian tale and a sign that read “Croc!” in order to fit in with the rest.

While this fan art featuring Fuecoco is doubtlessly impressive, it is far from the only drawing made by petrylopes. There are several other Pokemon-themed pictures by the artist on Reddit. For example, they previously created artwork that starred Froslass and Snorunts. As with the Fuecoco picture, these pieces had a similar level of attention to detail.

Unsurprisingly, numerous members of the Pokemon community on Reddit have taken notice of this amusing artwork featuring Fuecoco. With over 13.3K upvotes in less than a day, many were impressed with the picture. Among the comments, praise went to the addition of Gible attempting to join the croc gang. In addition, some fans liked the picture so much that they wished the creator would make more artwork featuring the other new starters. “I need Quaxly and Psyduck and whatever other ducks there are!!!” Okuden said on Reddit.

Since the reveal of Fuecoco several days ago, many more fans of the Pokemon series have been making impressive artwork featuring the starter Pokemon. For example, one artistic gamer created a Japanese ink painting of Fuecoco and the rest of the starters that gave them a more realistic look. As fans inevitably learn more about Pokemon Scarletand Violet in the coming days, it will be interesting to see what other fan art is shared. Maybe petrylopes will draw pictures of a cat gang for Sprigatito and a bird gang for Quaxly.

Pokemon Scarletand Violet are scheduled to release in late 2022 for the Nintendo Switch.
