A gamer has shown how Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Flamigo is actually stronger than many players think. Flamigo is just one of over 1000 Pokemon available to players in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Game Freak faced criticism when it unveiled Flamigo in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, with many feeling that the name and design were uninspired compared to most other Pokemon. However, the rough early reception the Pokemon faced may have deceived players into thinking Flamigo isn't a useful addition to any trainer's party, and that simply isn't true. With so many other Pokemon with weird and wonderful designs, it's unlikely that Flamigo will become a massive fan favorite any time soon. But posts like this could make players realize what it's capable of in a Pokemon battle.

The post by Redditor yeahright2005 makes the comparison between Flamigo and Tinkaton. The user notes that Flamigo's Attack is 115, while Tinkaton's is only 75, despite visually looking much stronger than Flamigo. Others had their theories as to why this might be, with many agreeing that Tinkaton's Attack had been lowered to reduce the effectiveness of the Gigaton Hammer move, which would otherwise be massively overpowered. Tinkaton has been something of a fan favorite since its arrival in Gen 9. One Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fan even created a human form for Tinkaton, complete with the hammer.

Players in the thread were quick to point out that Flamigo is actually a Fighting-type in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, so its power doesn't actually come as a huge surprise. It also has a special ability called Costar that allows it to copy an allied Pokemon's stat changes, making it one of the most useful Pokemon in the game in double battles. It's taken a while, but players largely seem to finally be looking past its design and appreciating what it has to offer in Pokemon battles.

It's a great time to be a fan of Pokemon. Recently, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet unveiled new DLC coming soon, promising to be a huge expansion on the base games. Fans of the Pokemon anime also recently received confirmation of who will be replacing protagonist Ash, with multiple new characters taking on the mantle. While it will certainly be a big change for long-time fans to get used to, it's a change that enables the show to have more creative freedom with its storylines going forward, and many fans are excited to see where it goes in the long run.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
