A Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fan has created convergent forms for Cacnea and Cacturne that explore the concept in a very fun way. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are entertaining players not only for the gameplay but for the ideas that have spawned diverse fanart.

Released in Generation 3, Cacnea is a Grass-type that evolves into the Grass/Dark-type Cacturne at level 30. The little monster has appeared in the Pokedex of every game except Generation 7, Pokemon Sword and Shield, and Legends: Arceus. While not one of the best Grass-type Pokemon, the Cacnea had a fun run through the Pokemon anime when James captured a Cacnea in Hoenn. Cacnea became extremely loyal to James and went out of the way to please him. To James' frustration, however, whenever Cacnea was called into battle, the Pokemon would hug James affectionately instead of focusing on the battle.

User aboxofgrumpyferrets shared on Reddit the fanart that shows what it would look like if Cacnea and Cacturne had convergent forms. Named Snacnea and Snacturne, the Pokemon have been given a fun look inspired by children's candy. The first pair of variants gives the Pokemon a color palette based on blue and purple, while the second pair of variants gives the Pokemon a color palette based on pink and purple. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet introduced convergent Pokemon, where two Pokemon unrelated to each other develop similar characteristics because of similar environments. This new category of Pokemon has inspired Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fanart that explore the idea in equally creative ways.

On the Pokemon subreddit, where aboxofgrumpyferrets shared the fanart, the post had positive feedback coming from other users. The comments praised the design created by aboxofgrumpyferrets, and the clever way in which the user got the whole concept of convergent Pokemon. Other users also praised the good combination of types chosen for the fanart, which would give the convergent forms of Cacnea and Cacturne a chance to join the ranks of the best Fairy-type Pokemon from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. One user also suggested a possible entry for Snacnea and Snacturne in Paldea's Pokedex.

The convergent forms of Cacnea and Cacturne created by aboxofgrumpyferrets are really creative and would have no trouble being among the Fairy-type Pokemon with awesome designs. The player could associate these forms with urban areas, especially areas with candy stores or children's amusements, which would make Snacnea and Snacturne real. Only time will tell how the Pokemon franchise will explore the convergent forms in Scarlet and Violet, and possibly in future games, and which Pokemon will get new forms.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for the Nintendo Switch.
