Reputable Pokemon leaker Riddler Khu is potentially teasing the number of new Pokemon that fans will encounter in the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. Starting with Pokemon Sword and Shield, Nintendo and Game Freak have started releasing expansion packs for main series Pokemon games instead of "third" games or enhanced re-releases as they've done in the past. When it comes to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, two DLC packs are planned.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's DLC is collectively known as The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, and it will be split into two parts. The first part is called The Teal Mask, and it's expected to drop at some point this fall. The second DLC is called The Indigo Disk, with an expected release date of sometime this coming winter. The DLC packs are bringing back many existing Pokemon from previous games that were not a part of the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet base game experience, but it seems they may also be introducing more brand-new Pokemon than expected.

So far, each Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC has one new Pokemon confirmed. Legendary Pokemon Ogerpon is debuting with The Teal Mask alongside Munkidori, Okidogi, and Fezandipiti, while Legendary Pokemon Terapagos is debuting with The Indigo Disk. A potential pre-evolution for Terapagos has been spotted in the Pokemon Horizons anime series, but more details on that front have yet to be revealed. In any case, Riddler Khu recently posted 7 + 8 + 1 on Twitter, and while fans don't know for sure what the numbers mean, the leading theory is that they are hinting at the number of new Pokemon to be featured in the DLC. If the fan theory is correct, there will be seven new Pokemon added in The Teal Mask, eight in The Indigo Disk, and one more added in some other capacity, perhaps a Mythical Pokemon that's part of a distribution event like in past Pokemon games.

Of course, it's entirely possible that fans are misinterpreting what Riddler Khu's message means. Another theory is that the leaker is teasing fans about when the next Pokemon Presents event will take place. Seven plus eight plus one equals 16, leading some fans to come to the conclusion that the next Pokemon Presents event will take place on August 16.

There is some legitimate evidence that a Pokemon Presents will take place at some point in August. Besides the fact that a Pokemon Presents has consistently taken place in August for years now, data miners have found references to a Pokemon Presents event in the latest Pokemon Masters EX update. If a Pokemon Presents event does take place as expected, one has to imagine that the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC will be featured, and if so, perhaps fans will get a look at some of the new Pokemon that are rumored to be making their debut.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are out now, exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
