A clip from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet demonstrates how players need to be careful and methodical in picking which Pokemon to use when hosting a Ditto raid. Raids have been among the most popular features introduced in the Switch era Pokemon games, allowing players to team up with their friends or AI to take on boss Pokemon. Raids often give players a chance to acquire rare and sought-after Pokemon, with the newest games featuring Pokemon with unique Tera types in Raids. Now, one player is reminding Raid hosts to think strategically when hosting a Ditto raid.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet introduced a new element to its Raid dens with the introduction of the game's new Terastal mechanic. The games' Tera Raid dens feature a variety of Pokemon that may be rare to encounter in the wild with many sporting different Tera types, making them a valuable addition to a player's team. Much like in Sword and Shield's Max Raids, players can invite their friends to battle alongside them in a Raid den or recruit other random players online to battle. However, hosts need to pay special attention to their Pokemon selection when dealing with Ditto.

Reddit user DedFluff uploaded a video to the Scarlet and Violet subreddit, reminding host players to pick low-level Pokemon lacking good moves and stats when hosting Ditto Raids. In Raid Dens, Ditto will always use its Transform attack to change itself into the selected Pokemon of the Raid's host. By picking a Level 7 Magikarp without effective moves, the user can simply rely on the game's "Cheer" system to buff their allies while their partners use their strongest Pokemon to easily win the battle. The other players are able to use this advantage to easily defeat the 6-star Raid.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Raid Dens introduce some major new mechanics to the franchise's traditional combat alongside the Terastal gimmick. The newest Pokemon games look to change up the standard combat formula in Raids by having players input their attacks on a real time-based system, with players' Pokemon able to attack at the same time. Game Freak has also already featured multiple events focused around bringing unique Pokemon to the Tera Raids with fan-favorites like Eevee, Charizard, and most recently Delibird featured.

Tera Raids have come as just one of several new gameplay elements featured within the Pokemon franchise's transition to an open world. Scarlet and Violet introduced the Auto Battle system, allowing players to send their Pokemon out to battle the wild Pokemon wandering the map. The games' co-op elements have also expanded with players able to enter their friends' worlds and travel around the Paldea region together. Scarlet and Violet brought plenty of new ideas to the table for the Pokemon franchise and have seen massive early success.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for the Nintendo Switch.
