A special, limited duration distribution event has begun for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, awarding players a variety of sandwich ingredients upon entering a code. Sandwiches are a big part of effectively completing the Pokedex and finding shinies within Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and this time-limited event rewards players with 60 ingredients. In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, players must collect a variety of ingredients, such as new item herba mystica, in order to create stronger sandwiches. Each sandwich gains a variety of effects depending upon which ingredients are used, being able to increase the spawn rate of Pokemon with specific types or, if more difficult ingredients are used, able to increase the chances of finding a specific type of shiny Pokemon. Ingredients for sandwiches can either be purchased from shops found around Paldea, or harvested from successful tera raid battles, with five and six-star raids having a chance to award players with the aforementioned herba mystica.RELATED: Massive Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Glitch Lets Players Farm Tera Raid RewardIn order to help players struggling to make sandwiches, The Pokemon Company has set up a special distribution event, which will run until January 31, 2023. During this time, players can enter the code HAJ1ME0R1G1NAL into their mystery gift menu to receive 10 peanut butter, prosciutto, hamburgers, cream cheese, noodles, and rice; totaling 60 ingredient items. It is worth noting that all items provided by this event can be purchased from vendors in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet for a small fee, and as such this event is likely aimed at newer players who are just getting into the game and want to start making sandwiches for the first time.

The Pokemon community is split over this event, with some being thankful while others are wishing they could have been given just a little bit more, with one user stating that "This is like if there were a special distribution in minecraft and the reward is wheat." Many Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players had already felt let down by the preorder bonus that came from purchasing the game through sites such as Amazon, which came in the form of 10 potions, 10 antidotes, and 3 revives, all of which could be obtained within a few minutes of playing the game, and feel that this special event is yet another disappointment due to all the gift ingredients being similarly easy to obtain. With Nintendo having recently issued an apology for the performance issues of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, many were hoping for a slightly more valuable gift as a form of compensation.

Regardless, even if it's not a brand new legendary or a fan favorite Pokemon with an exclusive trait, this distribution event is sure to save players a trip to the grocery in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, so that's something to be thankful for.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
