Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has debuted its newest limited-time event Pokemon for players to acquire through Mystery Gifts, featuring a competitive-ready Gyarados. The newest entries in the long-running monster-catching franchise feature a wide variety of creatures for players to find and catch throughout the expansive Paldea region, spanning multiple generations. The base game features 400 different Pokemon in the Paldea Pokedex, with "The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero" introducing more than 250 extra Pokemon with the DLC. Now, players can claim a special event Pokemon built for the game's competitive scene.

Much like past Pokemon games, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have regularly given out codes that players can use with the game's "Mystery Gift" system. Previous events have often granted players special items as rewards, like Poke Balls and version-exclusive TMs to utilize in their game. Game Freak also regularly features competitive-focused Pokemon as its Mystery Gift giveaways, including Pokemon based on those used at the game's highest-level tournaments. Now, Pokemon's Singapore Championships and a classic Kanto Pokemon are the spotlight of the newest in-game gift.
