Pokemon Scarlet & Violet introduces new ways of evolving Pokemon, but evolution stones are as important as ever. The Dawn Stone is no different, allowing players to get two potentially powerful Pokemon.

One of the biggest themes of Pokemon Diamond & Pearl was new methods of evolution. That included the introduction of new evolution stones including the Shiny Stone, Dawn Stone, and Dusk Stone. Each of these returns in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. The Dawn Stone is unique, however, as it was exclusively used to create diverging evolutionary paths based on a Pokemon’s gender. Here is where to get a Dawn Stone and how to make use of it in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

Updated June 23, 2023 by Ben Painter: Pokemon fans are still loving Pokemon Scarlet & Violet and are waiting in anticipation for the DLC, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero! But while that is still not ready, what gamers can do is aim to complete the Pokedex. With 400 Pokemon to catch and collect, there is plenty to keep fans busy.

In order to evolve certain Pokemon players will need some evolutionary stones, such as the Dawn Stone, which can be found across Paldea. But gamers may be asking where can they find a Dawn Stone in Pokemon Scarlet & Pokemon Violet.

How To Get Dawn Stones In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Players can find a Dawn Stone on a mound of dirt north of Levincia alongside a Fire Stone. This allows players to get an early jump on evolution, as players can get it around the same time that they’d be fighting the third gym leader, Iono.

Alongside this, players can get an extra Dawn Stone via the Pokedex reward system. Players can get a Dawn Stone by registering 270 Pokemon to the Paldean Pokedex.

Similar to the other evolutionary stones that aren’t sold by Delibird Presents, the only reliable ways to farm Dawn Stones are largely based on RNG. They have a slim chance of being found on the ground as a twinkling treasure. They also can appear as a lot in the Porto Marinada auction house.

Players looking to farm a number of Dawn Stones are best served to manipulate the in-game clock at the Porto Marinada auction house. By moving the Nintendo Switch’s internal clock forward to the next day, players can quickly reset the items available in the auction. There are dozens of possible items that can be sold, so this isn’t especially reliable, but it’s the most efficient method available as of the base version of the game.

Which Pokemon Evolve With A Dawn Stone?

Froslass In The Pokemon Anime

The only Pokemon known to evolve via Dawn Stone in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are Kirlia and Snorunt. The Dawn Stone is the only evolutionary stone with all its applicable Pokemon appearing in Paldea.

Snorunt Into Froslass

Froslass evolves from a Snorunt, at any level, when exposed to the Dawn Stone, but the said Snorunt has to be a female. If the Snorunt is male it will have no effect, but it can evolve into a Glalie starting at level 42.

Snorunt can be found in the Dalizapa Passage or Glasedo Mountain. There is a 50/50 chance that the Pokemon will be male or female, so gamers have a great chance to get a Froslass. The Snow Land Pokemon is a decent 'mon for battle with 110 speed and 80 special attack. It is unique as it is the only Ice/Ghost type in the whole of the franchise.

Kirlia Into Gallade

Gallade Pokemon Card Art

Back when Ralts, Kirlia, and Gardevoir were introduced in Generation 3 there was a sense that Gardevoir was a very feminine-looking Pokemon, despite the fact it could be male. This was fixed with Gallade in Generation 4, a male Kirlia when exposed to the Dawn Stone will evolve into the Psychic/Fighting type.

Kirlia will evolve into Gardevoir at level 30 if it is female or male. Although both evolutions are solid in the games, Gallade takes the edge with extra typing for coverage. Kirlias can be found all across Paldea: in the South Province in Cortondo, Area Two and Lecincia in the East Province, Porto Marinada in the West Province, in the North Province in Dalizapa Passage and Montenevera, and lastly in Area Three of the East Province. Gallade's best stats are 125 attack and 115 special defense. With a base stat total of 518, it is a solid Pokemon and worthy of the Dawn Stone.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are available now on Nintendo Switch.
