Another mystery gift has become available for fans of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, this time allowing fans to get their hands on the mythical Pokemon Mew for free until September 18th. The gift comes as part of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Get Mew & Mewtwo event, which will feature a number of waves offering powerful rewards and culminating in a Tera Raid battle against one special and very powerful Mewtwo, which will be obtainable upon successful completion of the raid.
So far, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have featured multiple limited-time mystery gift events granting access to gifts such as a Dark Tera-type Charizard, several shiny Pokemon, and more. Similar events have taken place throughout the many core-series Pokemon games over the course of the franchise's life, but a newly-announced event in the Gen 9 games allows fans to meet a remarkably rare and powerful Pokemon that has been something of an icon for the Pokemon franchise since as far back as Pokemon Red and Blue. This Pokemon is Mew, the first mythical Pokemon ever to be introduced to the franchise.
Mew has always been available to players almost exclusively through events, and the most recent Pokemon Presents livestream has officially revealed an upcoming Tera Raid battle in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet that had previously been leaked. The scope of this event has proven to be larger than was originally anticipated by fans though, with the Get Mew & Mewtwo event kicking off by making the mythical Pokemon Mew available for free via mystery gift. The Pokemon can be claimed by players right now by entering the code GETY0URMEW into the mystery gift menu, and will remain available until Monday 18th September at 14:59 UTC.

Mew is just the start of the event though, with fans able to take part in several waves of Tera Raid battles throughout August which grant access to useful rewards. These goods, along with the obtainable Mew, should help players gather the strength they need to face the Mightiest Mark Mewtwo who will appear in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's 7-star Tera Raid battles from September 1st through September 17th.
Mew is a Pokemon that hasn't been commonly available via events over the past few years, though many dedicated Pokemon fans may have had the opportunity to obtain the mythical Pokemon from the Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl games if they have save data in the Pokemon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! games. The fabled Pokemon's rarity has been the source of countless rumors over the decades, perhaps most popular of which is the "Mew under the truck" rumor from as far back as the Gen 1 games.
