  • It is important for players to redeem these codes before they expire.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players currently have four Mystery Gift codes that they can redeem in exchange for Pokemon. Like previous Pokemon games, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players can input special codes to get free content.

Most of the time, the Mystery Gift codes get Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players items that can help them in their adventures through the Paldea region, but the most exciting codes give them free Pokemon. These Pokemon are often highly sought-after creatures, giving players the chance to add rare Pokemon to their collection relatively easily. At the time of this writing, there are four Pokemon available to claim through Mystery Gift codes, though there could very well be more added down the line.

Until August 14, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players can use the code 23WCSGASTR0D0N to get a free Gastrodon. Code THA12022CHAMP unlocks a shiny Grimmsnarl until August 17, while code DARKTERA0006 unlocks a Dark Tera Type Charizard until August 31. And finally, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players can redeem the code GETY0URMEW to get a free Mew until September 18.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Mystery Gift Codes for August 2023

  • Gastrodon - 23WCSGASTR0D0N (until August 14)
  • Grimmsnarl - THA12022CHAMP (until August 17)
  • Charizard - DARKTERA0006 (until August 31)
  • Mew - GETY0URMEW (until September 18)

Since all these codes expire, it's important that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players redeem them as soon as possible. On the bright side, it's highly likely that there will be many more event Pokemon added to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in the months ahead. After all, Game Freak has some big plans for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in the near future, as evidenced by the two DLC packs that are in development for the games.

The first Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC pack is called The Teal Mask and it will drop on September 13. The Teal Mask will add new Pokemon for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players to add to their rosters, but word has yet to come about the DLC potentially adding more Mystery Gift codes to the mix. The second Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Indigo Disk, is currently pegged for a vague winter 2023 release. More information on that front should come at some point after The Teal Mask is released to the masses on September 13.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's two DLC packs could do a lot to bring back lapsed players, as could these Mystery Gift codes that distribute free Pokemon. Even though Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are the lowest-rated Pokemon games, the developers have continued releasing updates to improve the experience and keeping fans engaged with Pokemon distribution events. Time will tell if all of this is enough to turn around the public perception of the games or not.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
