Farming EVs is a vital step in building a strong team for competitive play and Tera Raid battles in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. When it comes to farming speed EVs, players have some strong options for maxing out their lineup quickly.

Farming EVs in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is quite a bit more important now than it was in Pokemon Sword & Shield. While players can still simply cram their Pokemon full of vitamins, the scarcity of money and LP makes it so players are better off grinding EVs than grinding trainer battles for money.

Different locations around the Paldea region make it easier to farm stats without players having to worry about using berries to reset EVs. Here is how players can farm Speed EVs in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet and the best way to do so.

How to Farm Speed EVs

Players can efficiently farm Speed EVs by defeating certain Pokemon while equipping their own party with the Power Anklet item. Power Anklets can be purchased very early in the game from the Delibird Presents locations in Mesagoza.

Every species of Pokemon yields a certain number of EVs. In most cases, this yield will be between one and three EVs in a specific stat. There are some exceptions where a Pokemon will give EVS in multiple stats. These Pokemon should be avoided in order to guarantee precise EV totals.

Here are some of the Pokemon that offer pure Speed EV yields. Evolved forms of these Pokemon also offer pure Speed EVs:

  • Pikachu
  • Diglett
  • Meowth
  • Voltorb
  • Buizel
  • Fletchling
  • Dreepy
  • Tandemaus
  • Shroodle
  • Wattrel
  • Wiglett
  • Flittle
  • Cyclizar

The Power Anklet item reduces the holder’s Speed stat in battle but gives a guaranteed 8 Speed EV yield bonus for each win. This is on top of whatever EVs the defeated Pokemon offers normally. Players can max a Pokemon’s Speed by getting it up to 252 Speed EVs.

Best Places to Farm Speed EVs in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

The two best places to farm Speed EVs in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are south of Levincia and south of the player’s house. These two areas offer different batches of Pokemon that can be farmed in different ways.

If the player is looking to max out a Pokemon’s speed stat, the best option is returning to the player’s house, heading south, then jumping off the cliff. The waters below are filled with Buizel, Wingull, Magikarp, and Arrokuda. Each of these Pokemon yield one Speed EV, which is bumped up to nine per knockout with the Power Anklet. Defeating 28 will max out a Pokemon’s Speed stat.

While players can do some math based on those yields, some like to simply get a rounded 10 EVs from each battle, necessitating opponents that yield two Speed EVs per battle. In this case, players can also farm Speed EVs south of Levincia, home of electric-type gym leader Iono.

Cyclizar offers two Speed EVs, which become 10 when combined with a Power Anklet. Cyclizar is a relatively rare spawn, so players can picnic and make a sandwich that ups dragon-type encounter rates if they want to expedite the process further.
